The nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) pathway is an evolutionarily conserved signaling pathway that plays a central role in immune responses and inflammation. Here, we show that NF-κB signaling is activated via a pathway in parallel with the Toll receptor by receptor-type guanylate cyclase, Gyc76C. Gyc76C produces cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) and modulates NF-κB signaling through the downstream Tollreceptor components dMyd88, Pelle, Tube, and Dif/Dorsal (NF-κB).

Cisplatin (CDDP) is an important drug for chemotherapy in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Nephrotoxicity and lack of an effect on bone invasion are limitations of CDDP. To increase its antitumor effect on bone invasion and reduce toxicity problems, anionic Pt complex (3Pt) has been developed.

A purposefully-designed anthraquinone-Pholiota squarrosa lectin (PhoSL) hybrid effectively degraded α-fetoprotein-L3 (AFP-L3) associated with liver cancer. Degradation was achieved under light irradiation in the absence of any additives and under neutral pH conditions. Moreover, the hybrid effectively exhibited selective photo-cytotoxicity against HuH-7 hepatocarcinoma cells upon photo-irradiation.

Design and synthesis of a boronic acid based artificial receptor which selectively and effectively bound to a neurotransmitter, l-DOPA (), in aqueous media. In addition, the synthetic receptor was found to effectively inhibit the DDC (l-DOPA decarboxylase) enzymatic reaction under physiological conditions.
