Although regulatory T cells (Treg) are inhibitory immune cells that are essential for maintaining immune homeostasis, Tregs that infiltrate tumor tissue promote tumor growth by suppressing antitumor immunity. Selective reduction of tumor-infiltrating Tregs is, therefore, expected to activate antitumor immunity without affecting immune homeostasis. We previously reported that selective Treg depletion targeted by a C-C motif chemokine receptor 8 (CCR8) resulted in induction of strong antitumor immunity without any obvious autoimmunity in mouse models.

Context: Cytochrome P450 oxidoreductase (POR) deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by skeletal dysplasia, adrenal dysfunction, disorders of sex development (DSD), and maternal virilization during pregnancy. Although multiple studies have been performed for this condition, several matters remain to be clarified, including the presence of manifesting heterozygosity and the underlying factors for clinical variability.

Objective: The objective of the study was to examine such unresolved matters by detailed molecular studies and genotype-phenotype correlations.

A pathological study on 5 of 21 cats affected naturally with systemic calcinosis was performed. The animals ranged in age from 1 to 9 years. Hematology and serum chemistry analyses showed the elevated values of phosphorus, blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine.
