Associations between early changes in the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio after radical nephroureterectomy and treatment outcomes.

Objectives: This study explored the impacts of peri-operative changes in the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on the survival rate after radical nephroureterectomy.

Methods: This retrospective analysis included a multicentric cohort of patients diagnosed with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) who had undergone radical nephroureterectomy from 2012 to 2021. We assessed the preoperative NLR, postoperative NLR, delta-NLR (difference between postoperative and preoperative NLRs), and NLR change (ratio of postoperative to preoperative NLR).

Prognostic model with alkaline phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase and presence of Gleason pattern 5 for worse overall survival in low-risk metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer.

Background: Randomized trials showed the survival benefits of the combined use of androgen receptor axis-targeted agents with androgen deprivation therapy in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC), regardless of the risk. However, treating patients with low-risk mHSPC with such intensive treatment is still debatable.

Methods: This retrospective study included 155 low-risk patients among 467 mHSPC patients treated in our affiliated institutions.

Comparison of ERG and SPINK1 expression among incidental and metastatic prostate cancer in Japanese men.

Background: TMPRSS2:ERG fusion is the most common genetic event in prostate cancer (PCa). However, its association with prognosis is controversial. Overexpression of serine protease inhibitor Kazal-type 1 (SPINK1) was almost exclusively defined in ERG-negative PCa in most studies.

[Vesico-appendiceal fistula caused by appendiceal cancer: a case report].

A case of vesico-appendiceal fistula caused by appendiceal cancer is reported. A 37-year-old male was admitted with the chief complaint of suspended dust in the urine. Under cystoscopy, a tumor (1 cm diameter) was found in the right posterior wall of the bladder.

[Condyloma acuminatum which developed in the neourethra post-urethroplasty for hypospasias; a case report].

We report here on a case of condyloma acuminatum in the neourethra after urethroplasty for hypospadias. A 37-year-old male visited an other clinic with the chief complaint of a meatal tumor. He had undergone a urethroplasty for hypospadias in his childhood.

[Clinical study on postoperative steroid hormone replacement for preclinical Cushing's syndrome].

Purpose: Diagnostic criteria for preclinical Cushing's syndrome (PCS) were reported in 1996. However, requirement of postoperative steroid hormone replacement is still controversial issue. In this study, we observed recent surgical cases retrospectively and evaluate the use of postoperative steroid hormone replacement.

[Clinical characteristics of 16 patients suspected preclinical Cushing's syndrome].

Purpose: In 1996, Japanese guidelines for the diagnosis of preclinical adrenal Cushing's syndrome were proposed. However, several patients with preclinical Cushing's syndrome (PCS) didn't clearly show that these diagnostic guidelines were universally applicable. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the validity of these diagnostic guidelines on the basis of our clinical experience.
