The interaction between a positively charged peptide (poly-L-lysine) and model membranes containing charged lipids has been investigated. Conformational changes of the polypeptide as well as changes in the membrane lipid distribution were observed upon lipid-protein agglutination: 1. The strong binding of polylysine is shown directly by the use of spinlabelled polypeptide.

Subjects find that the pitch of an exponentially decaying tone (1dB/ms) is higher than the pitch of a (20-ms) rectangularly gated tone of equal frequency. The percentage difference in frequency required to produce equal pitches with the two envelopes depends upon frequency fo: 2.

Although more severe changes were noted in bones of tumor-bearing than in non-tumor-bearing limbs, effects could be seen in both experimental situations. Severe bone marrow hyperplasia was noted consistently in tumor-bearing animals.

Intracerebral as well as extracerebral adenosine injection caused a dose- and time-dependent increase of the cerebral acetylcholine level, which was not accompanied by an equal development of the contents of adenine compounds and their degradation products. However, a considerable turnover of adenosine was observed in the brain after both routes of administration concerning the nucleotide as well as the degradation pathway.

Other phenotypically normal carriers of this balanced translocation are the patients sister and grandfather. The patient shows a variety of dysplastic signs mainly of the face.

These were compared to a larger series of salivary carcinoma at other sites, and to the known behavior of epidermoid carcinoma of the palate. The prognosis was significantly better for lesions of the palate.

Inhalation of drug was not followed by any variations either referring to hemodynamic parameters (pulmonary pressure, systemic blood pressure, cardiac output, peripheral resistance) nor to the blood gases. After a dosage as high as eigth time as normal side effects were not found.

99 schizophrenic patients from the General Mental Hospital in Göttingen who had received hospital treatment for the first time, where, after their discharge from hospital, studied for a period of 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 years. Information was collected with regard to the further progress of the disease on the one hand, and the response to drugs used in treatment on the other. Less than half the patients who had suffered from the disease from several years without receiving any out-patient treatment could not be helped or cured by the following hospital treatment.

Immunological tests revealed that this field infection was caused by a subgroup A leukosis virus. Tests for susceptibility to infection and presence of RSV antibodies in embryos and pullets respectively of lines R, G and M yielded the following results: line R appears to be predominantly resistant to BH-RSV (RAV1) and BH-RSV (RAV2) (subgroups A and B), line G predominantly resistant to BH-RSV (RAV2) (subgroup B), but susceptible to BH-RSV (RAV1 ) (subgroup A), while line M is predominantly susceptible to both BH-RSV (RAV1 ) and BH-RSV (RAV2) (subgroups A and B).
