Digital mental health interventions suggest promise for improved accessibility. Recent reviews have shown emerging evidence for individual use and early evidence for multiusers.

The Monarch Initiative in 2024: an analytic platform integrating phenotypes, genes and diseases across species.

Bridging the gap between genetic variations, environmental determinants, and phenotypic outcomes is critical for supporting clinical diagnosis and understanding mechanisms of diseases. It requires integrating open data at a global scale. The Monarch Initiative advances these goals by developing open ontologies, semantic data models, and knowledge graphs for translational research.

An OxPLORE Initiative Evaluating Children's Surgery Resources Worldwide: A Cross-sectional Implementation of the OReCS Document.

Background: The Global Initiative for Children's Surgery (GICS) group produced the Optimal Resources for Children's Surgery (OReCS) document in 2019, listing standards of children's surgical care by level of healthcare facilities within low resource settings. We have previously created and piloted an audit tool based on the OReCS criteria in a high-income setting. In this study, we aimed to validate its use in identifying gaps in children's surgery provision worldwide.

Prediction of readiness to decannulation from venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

Objective: The criteria and process for liberation from extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in patients with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome are not standardized. The predictive accuracy of the oxygen challenge test as a diagnostic test in determining weaning and decannulation from venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation was tested.

Design: A single-centre, retrospective, observational cohort study.

Hippocampal Neuroimaging-Informed Clinical Trial Enrichment Tool for Amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment Using Open Data.

Our goal was to assess the enrichment utility of hippocampal volume (HV) as an enrichment biomarker in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) clinical trials, and, hence, develop an HV neuroimaging-informed clinical trial enrichment tool. Modeling of integrated longitudinal patient-level data came from open-access natural history studies in patients diagnosed with aMCI-the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI)-1 and ADNI-2-and indicated that a decrease of 1 cm with respect to the analysis dataset median baseline intracranial volume-adjusted HV (ICV-HV; ~ 5 cm ) is associated with > 50% increase in disease progression rate as measured by the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale-Sum of Boxes. Clinical trial simulations showed that the inclusion of aMCI subjects with baseline ICV-HV below the 84th or 50th percentile allowed an approximate reduction in trial size of at least 26% and 55%, respectively.

Screening pulmonary angiogram and the effect on anticoagulation strategies in severe respiratory failure patients on venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

Background: Venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in the treatment of severe respiratory failure in adults continues to increase with survival improving; however, it remains associated with serious complications.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with severe respiratory failure requiring venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) and in those managed with conventional mechanical ventilation.

Methods: A single-center, observational cohort, retrospective study was undertaken of patients with severe respiratory failure managed with conventional ventilation or requiring ECMO in a tertiary referral university teaching hospital.

Psychopathology in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis of prevalence.

Parents of children with autism spectrum disorder appear to experience high levels of psychological distress, yet little is known about the prevalence of psychological disorders in this population. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to estimate the proportion of these parents who experience clinically significant psychopathology. Articles reporting proportions of psychological disorders in a sample of parents of children with autism spectrum disorder were located.

The Associations of Weight Status and Body Attitudes with Depressive and Anxiety Symptoms Across the First Year Postpartum.

Background: Postpartum depression and anxiety are prevalent in the first year after giving birth and can have problematic health outcomes for the mother and infant, although further research is required about the factors that contribute to their development. This study explored the trajectory of depressive and anxiety symptoms across the first postpartum year and their associations with body attitudes, body mass index, and weight retention.

Methods: Participants were 467 women recruited during pregnancy via online forums, in parenting magazines, and at baby and children's markets, or from a large tertiary Australian hospital.

A THERAPEUTIC PLAYGROUP FOR DEPRESSED MOTHERS AND THEIR INFANTS: FEASIBILITY STUDY AND PILOT RANDOMIZED TRIAL OF COMMUNITY HUGS.

Symptoms of depression negatively impact on mother-infant relationships and child outcomes. We evaluated a novel, 10-session mother-infant therapeutic playgroup-Community HUGS (CHUGS)-which combines cognitive and experiential components through psychoeducation, play, music, and movement. Participants were mothers experiencing a range of postnatal mental health difficulties, including depression, with infants ≤12 months of age.

The associations between depressive and anxiety symptoms, body image, and weight in the first year postpartum: a rapid systematic review.

Objective: The aim of this study was to conduct a rapid systematic review of the evidence of associations between postpartum depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, body image and weight status in the first 12 months post birth.

Background: The postpartum period places the mother and infant at risk of a number of negative health outcomes. Mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety are common in the postpartum, as are poor body image and excessive weight retention as women adjust to their post pregnancy body.

Moving anticoagulation initiation and monitoring services into the community: evaluation of the Brighton and hove community pharmacy service.

Background: As part of the NHS desire to move services closer to where people live, and provide greater accessibility and convenience to patients, Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) underwent a review of their anticoagulation services during 2008. The outcome was to shift the initiation and monitoring service in secondary care for non-complex patients, including domiciliary patients, into the community. This was achieved via a procurement process in 2008 resulting in the Community Pharmacy Anticoagulation Management Service (CPAMs) managed by Boots UK (a large chain of community pharmacies across the United Kingdom).

Objectives: (1) To assess the current literature and available data on functional performance outcome measures (PerfOs) and (2) to determine suitability of using PerfOs to quantify MS disability in MS clinical trials.

Methods: (1) Identify disability dimensions common in MS; (2) conduct a comprehensive literature review of measures for those dimensions; (3) develop an MS Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) data standard; (4) create a database of standardized, pooled clinical trial data; (5) analyze the pooled data to assess psychometric properties of candidate measures; and (6) work with regulatory agencies to use the measures as primary or secondary outcomes in MS clinical trials.

Individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI) have demonstrated deviations in gait initiation (GI) compared to healthy individuals. However, the intersession reliability of GI measures remains unknown in this population. The objective of this study was to determine the reliability and responsiveness of GI measures between two testing days in those with CAI.

Rocuronium Versus Suxamethonium: A Survey of First-line Muscle Relaxant Use in UK Prehospital Rapid Sequence Induction.

Introduction: Prehospital anaesthesia in the United Kingdom (UK) is provided by Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and British Association for Immediate Care (BASICS), a road-based service. Muscle relaxation in rapid sequence induction (RSI) has been traditionally undertaken with the use of suxamethonium; however, rocuronium at higher doses has comparable intubating conditions with fewer side effects.

Hypothesis/problem: The aim of this survey was to establish how many prehospital services in the UK are now using rocuronium as first line in RSI.
