Objectives Postpartum anxiety (PPA) is as prevalent and disruptive as postpartum depression (PPD), although less commonly addressed. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), originally created to screen for PPD, was found to include anxiety and depression subscales. This study examined the construct validity of the EPDS PPD and PPA subscales by examining differential predictors of both in a structural regression model.

While myoepithelial cells have been studied extensively in mammary and lacrimal gland tissues, less is known of the function of myoepithelial cells derived from human salivary glands. Several groups have isolated tumorigenic myoepithelial cells from cancer specimens, however, only one report has demonstrated isolation of normal human salivary myoepithelial cells needed for use in salivary gland tissue engineering applications.

Despite this importance, few measures are provided in the literature that evaluate nursing performance as an independent construct from competencies. The nine-item Nursing Performance Instrument (NPI) was developed to fill this gap.

The formation of calcitriol, the active vitamin D metabolite, from the main inactive circulating form, 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), occurs primarily in the proximal renal tubules. This results in a theoretical basis for reduction in levels of calcitriol over the course of an AKI.

Few studies have evaluated the potential health effects of this spill on the Gulf Coast community. The Women and Their Children's Health (WaTCH) study is a prospective cohort designed to investigate the midterm to long-term physical, mental and behavioural health effects of exposure to the oil spill.

The cognitive significance of abnormal intrinsic activity is also poorly understood, as are abnormalities that precede the onset of mild cognitive impairment. To address these limitations, we leveraged three different analytic approaches to identify disturbances in rsfMRI metrics in 31 cognitively normal PD patients (PD-CN) and 30 healthy adults.

The impact of warfarin therapy on the functions of extrahepatic vitamin K-dependent proteins (VKDP) is less clearly understood and less widely recognised in clinical practice than that on the hepatic counterparts (clotting factors II, VII, IX and X). Warfarin inhibits osteocalcin, an abundant extrahepatic VKDP involved in the mineralisation and maturation of bone and thus, primarily by this mechanism, may have an adverse effect on bone health. Whilst some studies do link warfarin use to an increase in osteoporosis and fracture risk others have not.

We analyzed blinding questions ("I am concerned about food allergies"; "food allergies are currently a big threat to my health") from three existing food safety surveys, given to high school and university undergraduate students ( = 3,451) circa February 2015, using descriptive analysis, and explored how concern related to demographics and self-reported cooking ability using linear regression. Overall, high school students were neutral in their concern, although Food and Nutrition students specifically were significantly less concerned ( = 0.

Patients And Methods: Baseline data were collected from adults of WE and SA origin participating in the Leicester arm of the Anglo-Danish-Dutch Study of Intensive Treatment in People with Screen Detected Diabetes in Primary Care (ADDITION-Leicester) study between August 2004 and December 2007. Overall, 6268 WE and SA adults had measures of body mass index, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, and waist-to-height ratio assessed between June 18, 2004, and December 4, 2007.
Objective: Forensic assertive community treatment (FACT) is an adaptation of the assertive community treatment model and is designed to serve justice-involved adults with serious mental illness. This study compared the effectiveness of a standardized FACT model and enhanced treatment as usual in reducing jail and hospital use and in promoting engagement in outpatient mental health services.
Methods: Seventy adults with psychotic disorders who were arrested for misdemeanor crimes and who were eligible for conditional discharge were recruited from the Monroe County, New York, court system.
Objective: Psychological distress is common among Parkinson disease (PD) patients. Screening tools, such as the Brief Symptom Inventory-18 (BSI-18), help clinicians to identify and manage PD patients with psychiatric symptoms. The objective of this study is to test the factor structure of the BSI-18 in PD patients.

We present a 9-month-old girl who was admitted to the metabolic unit for assessment of developmental delay. She was exclusively breastfed and the introduction of solids at 5 months was unsuccessful.

Lack of sleep may put children at risk for a variety of mental and physical health outcomes, including overweight, obesity and related chronic diseases. Given that children's sleep duration has decreased in recent decades, there is a need to understand the determinants of child sleep, including the role of parental support behaviours.

Trauma Surgery manages complex trauma and acute care surgical patients with rapidly changing physiology, clinical demands and a large volume of data that must be communicated to render safe, effective patient care. Trauma Morning Report format may offer the ideal situation to study and teach sign-outs and resident communication.

Thirteen LFs in 10 H&N patients treated by VMAT were analyzed. Measures have been taken to minimize the chances of insufficient target delineation for these patients and the patients were clinically determined to have LF based on the PET/CT scan results by an experienced radiologist and then reviewed by a second experienced radiation oncologist.

We (1) compared opioid use pre- and post-PDMP implementation and (2) estimated differences of PDMP impact by reason for Medicare eligibility and plan type.
Design: Analysis of opioid prescription claims in US states that implemented PDMPs relative to non-PDMP states during 2007-12.
Many children with unsubstantiated reports of child abuse and neglect repeatedly return to the child protection system, indicating that unsubstantiated reports may represent actual child maltreatment or risk for future maltreatment. Identifying patterns of re-reporting and predictors that may be associated with later substantiated re-reporting could help to identify children who are very likely to be maltreated. This knowledge may guide the development of policies and interventions to prevent further maltreatment and the risk for re-reports.

The surface restructuring of Pt(111) electrodes upon electrochemical oxidation/reduction in 0.1 M HClO was studied by in situ grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering and complementary scanning tunneling microscopy measurements. These methods allow quantitative determination of the formation and structural evolution of nanoscale Pt islands during potential cycles into the oxidation region.

Our goal is to engineer functional, three-dimensional (3D) salivary gland neotissue for autologous implantation to provide permanent relief. An immediate need exists to obtain autologous adult progenitor cells as the use of embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells potentially pose serious risks such as teratogenicity and immunogenic rejection.

Current treatments for chronic xerostomia, or "dry mouth", do not offer long-term therapeutic benefits for head and neck cancer survivors previously treated with curative radiation. Towards the goal of creating tissue-engineered constructs for the restoration of salivary gland functions, we developed new hyaluronic acid (HA)-based hydrogels using thiolated HA (HA-SH) and acrylated HA (HA-AES) with a significant molecular weight mismatch. Four hydrogel formulations with varying HA concentration, (1-2.
