Objectives Postpartum anxiety (PPA) is as prevalent and disruptive as postpartum depression (PPD), although less commonly addressed. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), originally created to screen for PPD, was found to include anxiety and depression subscales. This study examined the construct validity of the EPDS PPD and PPA subscales by examining differential predictors of both in a structural regression model.

Myoepithelial cells are flat, stellate cells present in exocrine tissues including the salivary glands. While myoepithelial cells have been studied extensively in mammary and lacrimal gland tissues, less is known of the function of myoepithelial cells derived from human salivary glands. Several groups have isolated tumorigenic myoepithelial cells from cancer specimens, however, only one report has demonstrated isolation of normal human salivary myoepithelial cells needed for use in salivary gland tissue engineering applications.

Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) affects more than 50% of critically ill patients. The formation of calcitriol, the active vitamin D metabolite, from the main inactive circulating form, 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), occurs primarily in the proximal renal tubules. This results in a theoretical basis for reduction in levels of calcitriol over the course of an AKI.

Disturbances in intrinsic activity during resting-state functional MRI (rsfMRI) are common in Parkinson's disease (PD), but have largely been studied in defined subnetworks. To address these limitations, we leveraged three different analytic approaches to identify disturbances in rsfMRI metrics in 31 cognitively normal PD patients (PD-CN) and 30 healthy adults.

The impact of warfarin therapy on the functions of extrahepatic vitamin K-dependent proteins (VKDP) is less clearly understood and less widely recognised in clinical practice than that on the hepatic counterparts (clotting factors II, VII, IX and X). Warfarin inhibits osteocalcin, an abundant extrahepatic VKDP involved in the mineralisation and maturation of bone and thus, primarily by this mechanism, may have an adverse effect on bone health. Exploratory study of the association of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plan robustness with local failure in head and neck cancer.

This work is to show which is more relevant to cause local failures (LFs) due to patient setup uncertainty between the planning target volume (PTV) underdosage and the potential target underdosage subject to patient setup uncertainties in head and neck (H&N) cancer treated with volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT). Thirteen LFs in 10 H&N patients treated by VMAT were analyzed. Measures have been taken to minimize the chances of insufficient target delineation for these patients and the patients were clinically determined to have LF based on the PET/CT scan results by an experienced radiologist and then reviewed by a second experienced radiation oncologist.

We (1) compared opioid use pre- and post-PDMP implementation and (2) estimated differences of PDMP impact by reason for Medicare eligibility and plan type.

Design: Analysis of opioid prescription claims in US states that implemented PDMPs relative to non-PDMP states during 2007-12.

Predictors of substantiated re-reports in a sample of children with initial unsubstantiated reports.

Many children with unsubstantiated reports of child abuse and neglect repeatedly return to the child protection system, indicating that unsubstantiated reports may represent actual child maltreatment or risk for future maltreatment. Identifying patterns of re-reporting and predictors that may be associated with later substantiated re-reporting could help to identify children who are very likely to be maltreated.
