Classical Hodgkin's lymphoma masquerading as Riedel's thyroiditis.

We present the case of a 38-year-old woman with a progressively tender swelling of the thyroid gland, who was treated as Riedel's thyroiditis based on two fine needle aspirations and a core biopsy. She was later found, on partial thyroidectomy, to have nodular sclerosis classical Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Dentures discovered in larynx 8 days after general anaesthetic.

An active 72-year-old man presented to the accident and emergency department (A&E) with odynophagia, dysphagia and haemoptysis 6 days after a minor operation and was discharged after treatment for an aspiration pneumonia. He presented to A&E 2 days later with worsening symptoms and was found to have dentures lodged in his larynx which were then removed in theatre. For 6 weeks after removal, he had periodic episodes of frank haemoptysis requiring multiple blood transfusions and, after extensive investigation, was found to have an erosion into an arterial vessel on his right parapharyngeal wall, just posterior to the glossopharyngeal sulcus.

Herpes zoster oticus with meningitis masquerading as malignant otitis externa.

This is a case of an 85-year-old woman whom was admitted with otalgia and an abducens nerve palsy alongside a Pseudomonas otitis externa; she was presumed to have malignant otitis externa. However, despite optimum treatment and resolution of her otitis externa, she went on to develop an ipsilateral facial nerve palsy and sensorineural hearing loss. After further investigation, it was discovered that varicella-zoster meningitis was causing her polyneuropathy.
