Diabetes mellitus is a widespread disease that poses a major threat to millions of people. To address this issue, we have synthesized seventeen new 4-(adamantan-1-yl)-(2-(arylidene)hydrazinyl)thiazoles via Hantzsch synthetic approach. The molecular structures of all the compounds were confirmed using spectroscopic techniques.

Microplastics (MPs) have been regarded as emerging pollutants globally, and understanding of the injurious impacts of MPs on food crops is still scarce. MPs toxicity can disrupt the growth and physic-chemical characteristics of turnip seedlings. Hence, sustainable remediation techniques by employing growth regulators can alleviate harmful impacts and confer MPs tolerance in vegetables.

Toxic environmental pollutants are considered to be posed a major threat to human and aquatic systems. The fast advancement of the petrochemical and chemical industries has woken up rising worries concerning the pollution of water by contaminants including phenolic Bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDC). The intermediate BPA used in synthesis of certain plastics, polycarbonate polymers, polysulfone, and epoxy resins of various polyesters.

Recommendation algorithms profoundly shape users' attention and information consumption on social media platforms. This study introduces a computational intervention aimed at mitigating two key biases in algorithms by influencing the recommendation process. We tackle , or algorithms creating narrow nonnews and entertainment information diets, and , or algorithms directing the more strongly partisan users to like-minded content.

Background: With the rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in a country that is already facing high tuberculosis (TB) burden, TB multi-morbidity is likely to pose a significant public health challenge in Pakistan. Data were analysed to determine the prevalence of TB and explore the distribution and determinants of multi-morbidity associated with TB in the population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa -a province of Pakistan.

Methods: This is a secondary analysis of data gathered as part of the KPIPHS survey conducted in 2016-17 in both the rural and urban areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Previous studies highlighted that CIAF is the better tool for malnutrition assessment which screen more children compared to other anthropometric approaches like MUAC, BMI for age, and conventional indices (Stunting, Wasting and Underweight). In the literature, none of the studies has mentioned CIAF performance by gender in comparison with other anthropometric approaches. The study solves this puzzle, of whether CIAF has the same performance in gender analysis too or not.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the roles of long noncoding RNAs (NEAT1), microRNAs (miR-21), and cytokine (IL-17) in Behçet's disease (BD) by comparing their levels in Egyptian BD patients to healthy individuals.
  • - Findings revealed that NEAT1 and miR-21 were downregulated and IL-17 was upregulated in BD patients, with IL-17 showing significant correlations with certain disease manifestations and treatments.
  • - The research suggests that these molecules could be important in understanding BD's pathogenesis, indicating a need for further studies to explore their potential as biomarkers or therapeutic targets.

Diabetes is an emerging threat to the world due to large number of deaths reported within the last decade. To overcome its spread and complications, herein, we reported synthesis and anti-diabetic potential of twelve novel 2-[(arylidenyl)methylidene]hydrazinyl-1,3-thiazole-5-carbaldehydes (3 a-l). All compounds have shown good to excellent α-amylase inhibitory activity, among them ortho substituted analogues, the compound 3 a (IC=14.

  • α-Amylase inhibition is important for managing diabetes, and the study focused on creating a new thiazole-chalcone hybrid to achieve this effect.* -
  • The synthesized compounds underwent various tests, with compounds 4 c, 4 g, and 4 f showing strong inhibitory effects on α-amylase, but none demonstrated significant antioxidant properties.* -
  • Additionally, the compounds exhibited low hemolytic activity, indicating biocompatibility, and molecular docking studies showed strong binding between the compounds and human pancreatic α-amylase, supporting their potential as antidiabetic drug leads.*

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to assess the levels of serum prolactin and macroprolactin in patients using proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) for an extended period of time.
  • Conducted between January 2018 and November 2019 in Pakistan, the research included patients who had been on PPIs for over three months, with blood samples collected for hormonal analysis.
  • Results showed that long-term PPI use is linked to elevated serum prolactin levels, particularly in patients on combination therapy and those treated for longer durations, indicating the need for careful monitoring.

In rural areas, land use decisions are not only shaped by economic considerations but also deeply influenced by cultural and social factors. The objective of this research is to examine the complex and diverse aspects of making decisions about how land is used in rural communities, specifically by investigating the influence of cultural and social elements. Using empirical data and rigorous analysis, this research examine how traditional practices, social norms, and community dynamics influence land use patterns.

The Green Economy Initiative aims to achieve economic development while minimizing carbon emissions by implementing a low-carbon economy across all sectors. It is noteworthy that ships play a significant role in global commodity transportation, accounting for approximately 80-90 percent. However, this also leads to a surge in fossil fuel consumption and alarming pollution levels.

This study inspects the impact of environmental deterioration and income on longevity and fertility in Asian countries, specifically the nations that are highly vulnerable to extreme weather. The study examines the data, covering two decades from 2000 to 2019. The empirical conclusions of the panel ARDL-PMG and the CS-ARDL econometric models indicate that environmental degradation leads to a decline in birth rate and life expectancy, while a rising income has a significant influence over longevity.

Algorithms of social media platforms are often criticized for recommending ideologically congenial and radical content to their users. Despite these concerns, evidence on such filter bubbles and rabbit holes of radicalization is inconclusive. We conduct an audit of the platform using 100,000 sock puppets that allow us to systematically and at scale isolate the influence of the algorithm in recommendations.
