Background: The global number of people with diabetes is estimated to reach 643 million by 2030 of whom 19-34% will present with diabetic foot ulceration. Insoles which offload high-risk ulcerative regions on the foot, by removing insole material, are the main contemporary conservative treatment to maintain mobility and reduce the likelihood of ulceration. However, their effect on the rest of the foot and relationship with key gait propulsive and balance kinematics and kinetics has not been well researched.

Background: In addition to the conventional aetiologic agents of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) such as tobacco usage, alcohol consumption and betel quid usage, it has been established that a proportion of OPSCC are driven by persistent oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) infections. Currently, there is a lack of data on the burden of HPV- associated OPSCC in Asian countries including Malaysia.

Methods: A cross-sectional multicentre study with tissue analysis of Malaysian patients diagnosed with primary OPSCC within a five-year period, from 2015 to 2019 between 01/01/2015 to 31/12/2019 was undertaken.

Introduction: Small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) that arises from the tonsil is a particularly rare head and neck carcinoma. This kind of neoplasm mainly originated from the bronchopulmonary area; however, there were reported cases of extrapulmonary areas. The prognosis is poor as the tumour is an aggressive tumour and have a high risk of metastasis.

The modern broiler is selected to exploit its full genetic potential, to sustain a rapid growth rate, and to lower the feed conversion rate (FCR). Recently reported reductions in FCR have been associated with augmented tissue formation at the expense of physiological functions such as thermoregulation. In turn, modern broilers exhibit a relatively low capability to balance energy expenditure under suboptimal ambient temperature.

The question of whether behavioral traits are heritable is under debate. An obstacle in demonstrating transgenerational inheritance in mammals originates from the maternal environment's effect on offspring phenotype. Here, we used in ovo embryonic heat conditioning (EHC) of first-generation chicks, demonstrating heredity of both heat and immunological resilience, confirmed by a reduced fibril response in their untreated offspring to either heat or LPS challenge.

The role of RhoG in T cell development is redundant with other Racs subfamily members, and this redundancy may be attributed to redundant signal transduction pathways. However, the absence of RhoG increases TCR signalling and proliferation, implying that RhoG activity is critical during late T cell activation following antigen-receptor interaction. Moreover, RhoG is required to halt signal transduction and prevent hyper-activated T cells.

Adequate ambient temperature and oxygenation are necessary to maintain normal embryonic development of broilers; however, hypoxia challenge during incubation can aid in improving regulatory plasticity and lead to different phenotypes later in life. This study aimed to examine the effects of moderate hypoxia (O 17%) during the plateau phase on the embryonic physiological parameters and on posthatch performance (growth rate, feed consumption and feed conversion) up to the age of poultry marketing. The study included examined embryos exposed to O 17% for 12 h per day (h/d) from E16 through E18 (designated as 12H), or O 17% continuously, from E16 through E17 (designated as 48H) and a standard incubation control group (21% O).

In all vertebrates, hypoxia plays an important role in fetal development, driving vasculogenesis, angiogenesis, hematopoiesis, and chondrogenesis. Therefore, the ability to sense and respond to changes in the availability of oxygen (O) is crucial for normal embryonic development as well as for developmental plasticity. Moderate levels of hypoxia trigger a regulated process which leads to adaptive responses.

Ambient conditions during chicken embryogenesis, such as insufficient oxygen or changes in temperature, are expected to cause permanent phenotypic changes and affect their posthatch performance. Decades of genetic selection for high growth rate resulted with various physiological and morphological changes that can affect the broiler fitness under environmental stress. To evaluate the selection effect on responses to environmental challenge during embryonic development, and the long-term implications, we have used a unique genetic line, that was not selected for over 30 yr (since 1986), as control for the modern commercial genetic line.
