So far, site-directed alkylation (SDA) studies on transporters in the Major Facilitator Superfamily (MFS) are mostly performed at conditions different from the native cellular environment. In this study, using GFP-based site-directed PEGylation, ligand-induced conformational changes in the lactose permease of Escherichia coli (LacY), were examined in vivo for the first time. Accessibility/reactivity of single-Cys replacements in a Cys-less LacY-eGFP fusion background was tested using methoxy polyethylene glycol-maleimide-5K (mPEG-Mal-5K) in the absence or presence of a ligand, and the band-shift of the fusion upon PEGylation was detected by in-gel fluorescence.

Operating variables, including temperature (700-900 °C), air flow rate (10-30 mL/min), and particle size (0.25-2 mm), were optimized to maximize syngas production using air as the gasification agent in a fixed bed horizontal tube furnace reactor.

However, there are some issues that need to be addressed related to the CBN grades and their particular applications in the area of hard turning process. This experimental study investigated the effects of three different grades of CBN insert on the cutting forces and surface roughness.

Purpose: To compare the 1-year clinical outcome of the Encode and conventional protocols for restoring single implants.
Materials And Methods: Forty-seven implants were inserted in 44 patients.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) encompasses a wide spectrum of fat-induced liver injury, ranging from relatively benign steatosis to cirrhosis and liver failure. The presence of obesity and insulin resistance is strongly associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver and confers on it a greater risk of histologically advanced disease. There is a growing concern in the medical profession as the prevalence of this disease continues to rise in parallel with the rise in obesity and the metabolic syndrome.
