Reticular Oral Lichen Planus: A Clinical Experience of ENT Surgeons.

Reticular Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic autoimmune disease that presents as fine, white, linear and lace like lesions of the oral cavity referred to as Wickham striae. The clinical characteristics of 30 patients with reticular oral lichen planus is presented so that cases are not missed/misdiagnosed by ENT surgeons. The clinical records noted for each patient were gender, age and clinical presentation of reticular OLP (site affected, presence of symptoms and extraoral manifestations of the disease, smoking habit, and consumption of alcoholic beverages).

Innovative Use of Google Cardboard in Clinical Examination of Patients of Vertigo.

Background: Vertigo is 1 of the most prominent and frequent neurological symptom. It is estimated that about 30% of all people need medical care once in their life due to this index symptom. The neurological expertise required is usually scarce in underprivileged areas.

Innovative Use of Tympanometry and Scintigraphy in Preoperative Assessment of the Patients with Chronic Otitis Media.

Normal middle ear volume indicates the well ventilated middle ear and subsequently the normal function of the Eustachian tube. We carried out preoperative assessment of the middle ear volume by tympanometry and scintigraphic evaluation of Eustachian tube patency in patients with unilateral otitis media. We correlated the middle ear volume and Eustachian tube patency in these patients.

The Learning Curve in Surgical Practice and Its Applicability to Rhinoplasty.

The learning curve as a concept has been considered, discussed and debated in medical education and healthcare for over two decades. The precise usage has been recognised in surgical disciplines both broad specialties and sub-specialties. Rollin Daniel in his book stated that, rhinoplasty is the most difficult of all cosmetic operations for three reasons, (a) nasal anatomy is highly variable, (b) the procedure must correct form and function and (c) the final result must meet the patients expectations.

Comparison between clinical and audiological results of tympanoplasty with modified sandwich technique and underlay technique.

Introduction: Surgical repair of the tympanic membrane, termed a type one tympanoplasty is a tried and tested treatment modality. Overlay or underlay technique of tympanoplasty is common. Sandwich tympanoplasty is the combined overlay and underlay grafting of tympanic membrane.

Achalasia cardia: an interesting variation as a large neck swelling.

In this report we present a case of large neck swelling that turned out to be achalasia cardia, not a very common presentation of this disease. An elderly female presented with complain of progressive dysphagia, aspiration and regurgitation of food along with right sided neck swelling measuring 10x5 cm. It was associated with weight loss.

Preparation of nose for nasal endoscopy: cotton pledget packing versus topical spray. A prospective randomized blinded study.

During nasal endoscopy it is essential to have proper visualization of structures with minimal discomfort to patient and surgeon. For this it is essential that the nose is well prepared before the procedure. The main objective of the study is to compare and evaluate the efficacy of cotton pledget packing versus topical sprays in preparation of nose for nasal endoscopy.
