Background And Significance: Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is a rare group of diseases that can present with stroke-like symptoms. Anti-leucine-rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) encephalitis is an AE subtype that is infrequently associated with neoplasms and highly responsive to prompt immunotherapy treatment. Therefore, accurate diagnosis of LGI1 AE is essential in timely patient management.

Introduction: This study evaluated an association between whole brain volume loss and neurocognitive decline following prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) for limited-stage small-cell lung cancer (SCLC).

Methods: This was a secondary analysis of a prospective clinical trial that accrued patients at a single institution from 2013 to 2016. Patients with limited-stage SCLC treated with standard chemo-radiation received PCI 25 Gy/10 fractions, with mean hippocampal dose limited to < 8 Gy.

Background: The cortico-ponto-cerebellar tract (CPCT) is the largest projection pathway, which synapses at the pons. Remote effects of supratentorial brain tumors have not been evaluated along the infratentorial course of the CPCT.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possible lateralization of the diffusion tensor metrics of the affected CPCT in patients with supratentorial brain tumor.

Background: Nearly 5 million emergency department (ED) visits for head injury occur each year in the United States, of which <10% of patients show abnormal computed tomography (CT) findings. CT negative patients frequently suffer protracted somatic, behavioral, and neurocognitive dysfunction. Our goal was to evaluate biomarkers to identify mild TBI (mTBI) in patients with suspected head injury.

Head injury patients not meeting the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM)'s criteria for mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), referred to hereafter as HIBRID (Head Injury BRain Injury Debatable), are often excluded from studies. The prognostic importance of HIBRID is unclear. We investigated the differences in functional and symptomatic recovery at 1 month post-injury among TBI patients classified as: HIBRID, ACRM+ cranial computed tomography (CT)-, and cranial CT+; and trauma and healthy controls.
