This article discusses a finite-source stock-dependent stochastic inventory system with multiple servers and a retrial facility. The system can store a maximum of S items, and the lifetime of each item is exponentially distributed. The primary customer arrives at the waiting hall from the finite source and receives service from multi-servers.

Weathered polyethylene microplastics induced immunomodulation in zebrafish.

Microplastics are pollutants of emerging concern and the aquatic biota consumes microplastics (MPs), which has a range of toxicological and environmental effects on aquatic organisms that are not the intended targets. The current study looked into how weathered polyethylene (wPE) MPs affected Danio albolineatus immunological and haematological markers. In this experiment, fish of both sexes were placed in control and exposure groups, and they were exposed for 40 d at the sublethal level (1 μg L) of fragmented wPE, which contained 1074 ± 52 MPs per litre.

Effect of microfibers induced toxicity in marine sedentary polychaete Hydroides elegans: Insight from embryogenesis axis.

Presence of surgical face masks in the environment are more than ever before after the COVID-19 pandemic, and it poses a newer threat to aquatic habitats around the world due to microfibers (MFs) and other contaminants that get discharged when these masks deteriorate. The mechanism behind the developmental toxicity of MFs, especially released from surgical masks, on the early life stages of aquatic organisms are not well understood. Toxicity test were developed to examine the effects of MFs released from surgical facemask upon deterioration using the early gametes and early life stages of marine sedentary polychaete Hydroides elegans.

Tru-cut needle biopsy: A novel approach in the diagnosis of solid oral pathologies.

Nowadays, new biopsy techniques such as fine and wide needles are now employed instead of invasive biopsy techniques. Compared to open biopsy, true-cut needle biopsy has a number of advantages. It's quick and simple to do, can be done in an outpatient department, avoids incisions into previously irradiated skin, and has few risks.

Background: This study is based on blow fly samples collected from 8 medico-legal cases in Tamil Nadu, India. The fly life stages were identified and the consistency of minimum post-mortem intervals (PMImin) estimated by different thermal summation-based methods was assessed.

Methods: PMImin of 8 medico-legal cases was estimated using six different thermal summation constants and lower developmental temperatures that are based on C.

Background: Salivary gland tumours are relatively uncommon, and there exists considerable diagnostic difficulty. This is due to individual lesions having diverse histopathological features, presence of number of types and variants, and overlapping histological features in different tumour entities.

Aim: The current study aimed at assessing the expression of centromere protein F (CENPF) in benign and malignant salivary gland tumours and to evaluate the efficacy of CENPF as a proliferative marker to aid in the diagnosis of malignancy so that it will help in surgical pathology practice.

Microplastic contamination in commercial fish species in southern coastal region of India.

Due to its potential impact on food safety and human health, commercial species that have been contaminated with microplastics (MPs) are drawing more attention on a global scale. This study investigated the possibility of MPs contamination in different marine fish species with substantial commercial value that was captured off the south coast of India, from Adyar and Ennore regions. Over the course of six months, from October 2019 to March 2020, 220 fish were examined.

Influence of intensive rearing, continuous and rotational grazing systems of management on parasitic load of lambs.

Aim: A trial was conducted to assess the influence of parasitic load on the lambs reared under the intensive system, continuous grazing, and rotational grazing systems of management.

Materials And Methods: A total of thirty numbers of the undetermined breed of ewe lambs around 4-5 months of age were randomly selected and allotted to three treatment groups: T (intensive system - control), T (rotational grazing), and T (continuous grazing). The T group lambs were raised under a stall-fed system of management, the T group lambs were grazed under rotational grazing strategy in four paddocks of plot-A, while the T group lambs were continuously grazed in plot-B.

Examination and dissection of these nodules revealed that they were "worm nests" of of filarid nematodes. The worm nests were carefully dissected and filarid worms were extracted out.

Incidence of fur mites in laboratory rodents is reported. Among mice, infestation was found to be highest in male Swiss Albino mice followed by female Swiss Albino mice, male Balb C mice and female Balb C mice. Infestation in Guinea pigs was 50 %.

Complete nucleotide sequence analysis of the oncogene "Meq" from serotype 1 Marek's disease virus isolates from India.

A study was undertaken to characterise the oncogene Meq at the molecular level for three serotype 1 Marek's disease virus (MDV) field isolates from vaccinated poultry flocks which had encountered a Marek's disease outbreak in the southern part of India. The isolates were named Ind/TN/11/01, Ind/KA/12/02 and Ind/TN/12/03.

Aim: Gastrointestinal (GI) nematodes are considered as a major constraint for successful sheep production. Control of these parasites heavily relies on the use of chemical anthelmintics. Occurrence of the pentastomid Porocephalus crotali (Humboldt, 1811) in an Indian rat snake (Ptyas mucosus): a case report.

The occurrence of the pentastomid Porocephalus crotali in an Indian rat snake (Ptyas mucosus) at Chennai, India is reported. The worms were found in the lungs and they were identified as females. The worms were cylindrical and annulated with a centrally located mouth surrounded by four hooks.

Pathotyping of recent Indian field isolates of Marek's disease virus serotype 1.

A study was undertaken to assess the virulence of Marek's disease virus (MDV) serotype 1 field isolates obtained from poultry flocks of southern part of India. Five representative MDV serotype 1 strains were isolated from eighty-six blood samples collected from fifteen farms. Three out of five isolates which were free from avian leukosis virus (ALV) and reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) were adapted in chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) culture and designated as Ind/TN/11/01, Ind/KA/12/02 and Ind/TN/12/03.

Ground beetle, Opatroides frater (Coleoptera) as natural intermediate host for the poultry tapeworm, Raillietina cesticillus.

Poultry farms in and around Namakkal with a history of tapeworm infection were surveyed for the presence of beetles which could act as intermediate host for the tapeworms. Beetles collected from different poultry farms with suspected tapeworm infection were examined for the presence of metacestode stage of the parasite. A total of 1,880 beetles were collected from 12 poultry farms with suspected tapeworm infection to study the vector potentiality.

A comparison of oral and dental manifestations in diabetic and non-diabetic uremic patients receiving hemodialysis.

Background: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the oral and dental findings of uremic patients receiving hemodialysis and to compare the Results between diabetic and non-diabetic groups.

Materials And Methods: A total of 100 patients undergoing hemodialysis were classified into diabetic and non-diabetic groups and examined for uremic oral manifestations, dental caries (DMFT), and periodontal status (CPITN). Mann-Whitney test of significance has been applied for analyzing DMFT score and chi-square test is used for analyzing CPITN score.
