The present systematic review aimed to identify all the available literature on awake craniotomy (AC) in patients with arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in order to evaluate its safety, risks, benefits and effectiveness. All available literature on AC in patients with AVM was collected and evaluated in an aim to provide a better understanding of its safety, associated risks and benefits. A systematic search for studies employing AC in patients with AVM was conducted using the PubMed, Scopus and ScienceDirect databases without restrictions on the year of publication, language, or study design, from inception up to May 30, 2021.

A disorder known as portal venous thrombosis (PVT) is characterized by a partial or total obstruction of the portal vein. Although PVT is somewhat uncommon, liver illness is frequently linked to it. Cirrhosis, carcinoma of the liver, myeloproliferative neoplasms, other malignancies, the use of oral contraceptives, intestinal infections, and genetic hypercoagulable illnesses are typical risk factors.

Background: Exercise is known to reduce adverse side effects of androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) on quality of life, bone health and fatigue for prostate cancer (PCa) patients. We conducted a systematic review with meta-analysis to evaluate the effect of multidisciplinary interventions on body composition and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in ADT-treated PCa patients.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted based on searches of EMBASE, MEDLINE, CENTRAL and Scopus databases from inception to March 2023.

Human nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (hNNMT) is a cytosolic enzyme associated in the phase-II metabolism, belonging to the S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM)-dependent methyltransferases family. Overexpression of hNNMT was observed in diseases such as metabolic disorders and different types of cancers, which suggest NNMT as a prospective therapeutic target. In this study we propose a structure-based pharmacophore model to understand the structural features responsible for the pharmacological activity.

The achiral tripeptide Boc-Aib-MABA-Aib-OMe has the ability to co-exist as nanospheres and as a network of nanofibers in methanol. Furthermore, AFM and TEM images show the presence of bulges in the network of nanofibers. Interestingly, the formation of nanofibers is seen to emerge from the outer boundary of the spherical structures.

Photosensitizers (PS) are used in photodynamic therapy to treat several cancers. The efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) could be further improved by overcoming aggregation-dependent quenching of PS and by improving the biodistribution of the PS. In this work we attempted to overcome these issues by conjugating a PS with a lipid molecule and tested the liposomes prepared with this PS conjugated lipid for PDT.
