Aim: Acute rheumatic fever (ARF) most commonly presents in children aged 5-14 years old. Lifelong rheumatic heart disease (RHD) can result. This study investigated time trends in ARF and RHD using inpatient data from the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne (RCH).

Within Radiography in the UK, elements of PCC are embedded within professional body publications and guidance documents. However, there is limited research evidence exploring whether perceptions of PCC are equivalent between those delivering (radiographers) and those experiencing (patient) care.

Design: We developed a low-cost continuous neonatal temperature monitor (NTM) for use in low-resource settings. Accuracy of NTM was initially assessed in the laboratory.

Previous research determined that ingestion of multi-ingredient dietary supplements (MIDS), can lead to signals of safety concerns.

Assessment of low plasma concentrations of apixaban in the periprocedural setting.

Introduction: Estimation of residual apixaban plasma concentrations may be requested in the management of emergencies. This study aims at assessing the performance of specific anti-Xa assays calibrated with apixaban on real-life samples with low apixaban plasma concentrations (<30 ng/mL) and on-treatment ranges, with and without interference of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH).

Methods: The performance of the STA -Liquid Anti-Xa assay (STA LAX) and the low and normal procedures of the Biophen Direct Factor Xa Inhibitors (DiXaI) assay was tested on 134 blood samples, collected from patients on apixaban, wherefrom 74 patients received LMWH after apixaban cessation.

A reference map of the human binary protein interactome.

Global insights into cellular organization and genome function require comprehensive understanding of the interactome networks that mediate genotype-phenotype relationships. Here we present a human 'all-by-all' reference interactome map of human binary protein interactions, or 'HuRI'. With approximately 53,000 protein-protein interactions, HuRI has approximately four times as many such interactions as there are high-quality curated interactions from small-scale studies.

Can Dual Energy CT with Fast kV-Switching Determine Renal Stone Composition Accurately?

Rationale And Objectives: To determine whether a single source computed tomography (CT) system utilizing fast kV switching and low dose settings can characterize (diameter and chemical composition) renal stones accurately when compared infrared spectroscopy.

Materials And Methods: The chemical composition of 15 renal stones was determined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The stones were inserted into a porcine kidney and placed within a water tank for CT scanning using both fast kV switching dual energy and standard protocols.

In certain settings the addition of ivermectin to this combination (IDA) remains a safe strategy and is more efficacious. However, the safety has yet to be described in scabies and soil-transmitted helminth endemic settings like Fiji.

Quicker transition to weight-bearing postoperatively increases patient adherence, decreases adjacent joint stiffness, and reduces risk of deep vein thrombosis in the postoperative period.

Background: Olfactory receptor (OR) genes are the largest multi-gene family in the mammalian genome, with 874 in human and 1483 loci in mouse (including pseudogenes). The expansion of the OR gene repertoire has occurred through numerous duplication events followed by diversification, resulting in a large number of highly similar paralogous genes. These characteristics have made the annotation of the complete OR gene repertoire a complex task.

Glycoproteomic measurement of site-specific polysialylation.

Polysialylation is the enzymatic addition of a highly negatively charged sialic acid polymer to the non-reducing termini of glycans. Polysialylation plays an important role in development, and is involved in neurological diseases, neural tissue regeneration, and cancer. Polysialic acid (PSA) is also a biodegradable and non-immunogenic conjugate to therapeutic drugs to improve their pharmacokinetics.

Patient Attribution of Posttraumatic Symptoms to Brain Injury Versus PTSD in Military-Related Mild TBI.

Objective: Persistent cognitive, somatic, and neuropsychiatric symptoms following mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) are influenced by posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), particularly in military patients. The authors evaluated the degree to which military service members with a history of mild TBI attributed posttraumatic symptoms to TBI versus PTSD.

Methods: Service members (N=372) with mild TBI were surveyed about the severity of posttraumatic symptoms across four symptom clusters (cognitive, affective, somatosensory, and vestibular) with the Neurobehavioral Symptom Inventory (NSI).

Methods: We used the OX40 assay to isolate antigen-specific Tregs by induced surface co-expression of CD25, OX40 and CD39.

Treatment of hematologic cancers using allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (AHCT) serendipitously led to the discovery that T cells specific for minor histocompatibility antigens (MiHAs) could cure hematopoietic cancers. Besides, studies based on treatment of solid tumor with -expanded tumor infiltrating lymphocytes or immune checkpoint therapy demonstrated that anti-tumor responses could be achieved by targeting tumor-specific antigens (TSAs).
