The mechanisms governing adipose tissue macrophage (ATM) metabolic adaptation during diet-induced obesity (DIO) are poorly understood. In obese adipose tissue, ATMs are exposed to lipid fluxes, which can influence the activation of specific inflammatory and metabolic programs and contribute to the development of obesity-associated insulin resistance and other metabolic disorders. In the present study, we demonstrate that the membrane ATP-binding cassette g1 (Abcg1) transporter controls the ATM functional response to fatty acids (FAs) carried by triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, which are abundant in high-energy diets.

In human breast cancer the mitochondrial translocator protein (TSPO) aids pro-survival cellular response by facilitating the formation of mitochondrial contact sites with the nucleus termed Nucleus Associated Mitochondria (NAM). Here, we show that TSPO positively associates with the aggressiveness of tissues and cells isolated from Canine Mammary Tumours (CMTs). TSPO is also readily upregulated in reprogrammed mammary tumour cells following long-term deprivation of oestrogen or exposure to the endocrine chemotherapeutic (ET) agent Tamoxifen.

Background: The development of motor competence (MC) during childhood is crucial for future physical activity and health outcomes, and it is affected by both biological and psychosocial factors. Most MC research has focused on children's age, with fewer studies examining separate associations between MC and biological maturation.

Dihydrouridine (D), a prevalent and evolutionarily conserved base in the transcriptome, primarily resides in tRNAs and, to a lesser extent, in mRNAs. Notably, this modification is found at position 2449 in the 23S rRNA, strategically positioned near the ribosome's peptidyl transferase site. Despite the prior identification, in genome, of three dihydrouridine synthases (DUS), a set of NADPH and FMN-dependent enzymes known for introducing D in tRNAs and mRNAs, characterization of the enzyme responsible for D2449 deposition has remained elusive.

Objectives: Mindfulness therapy improves drinking outcomes arguably by attenuating negative mood-induced drinking, but this mechanism has not been demonstrated in hazardous community drinkers. To address this, three studies tested whether a key ingredient of mindfulness, breath counting, would attenuate the increase in motivation for alcohol produced by experimentally induced negative mood, in hazardous community drinkers.

Method: In three studies, hazardous community drinkers were randomized to receive either a 6-min breath counting training or listen to a recited extract from a popular science book, before all participants received a negative mood induction.

Neuroscience-based nomenclature (NbN) is a classification system for psychotropic medications based on pharmacology and mode of action. Rather than the current naming system, which is primarily based on a single indication or its chemical structure, NbN uses current scientific knowledge that provides a pharmacological rationale for medication choice. NbN limits confusion, especially when prescribing to children, as the medications are named and described in a way that is not stigmatizing or misleading.

Case Summary: A case of skin fragility in an 8-year-old domestic shorthair cat with pituitary-dependent hyperadrenocorticism is described. The cat was referred to the Feline Centre at Langford Small Animal Hospital with a 2-month history of multiple skin wounds with no known traumatic aetiology. A low-dose dexamethasone suppression test was performed before referral, which was consistent with hyperadrenocorticism.
