Introduction Mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and psychological distress in the adult population significantly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the rates of prescribing psychotropic medications in adults during the COVID-19 period have not been well explored. Aim The aim of this study was to examine the association between demographic characteristics and rates of prescribing psychotropic medications to general practice patients during 2018-2022.

Case Summary: A 5.5-year-old male neutered domestic shorthair cat was presented with a 2-year history of progressive chronic kidney disease. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed bilateral chronic renal degeneration, nephrolithiasis, cortical hyperechogenicity and infarction.

Lymphaticovenous anastomosis of the caudal thoracic duct to the azygous vein: A feline cadaver study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to describe a technique for anastomosis of the thoracic duct (TD) to the azygos vein (AV) using a microvascular anastomotic coupler (MAC) device in feline cadavers. Our hypothesis was that a TD-AV lymphaticovenous anastomosis would be feasible in feline cadavers.

Donor-derived Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma infections in lung transplant recipients: A prospective study of donor and recipient respiratory tract screening and recipient outcomes.

Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma species are urogenital mollicutes that can cause serious donor-derived infections in lung transplant recipients. Best practices for mollicute screening remain unknown. We conducted a single-center prospective study analyzing lung transplants performed from October 5, 2020, to September 25, 2021, whereby donor and recipient bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples obtained at time of transplant underwent mollicute screening via culture and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

The prevalence of anatomical-based subtypes of feline congenital extrahepatic portosystemic shunts (EHPSS) has not been completely elucidated. The goal of this study was to use CT angiography to create an anatomical-based nomenclature system for feline congenital EHPSS. Additionally, subjective portal perfusion scores were generated to determine if intrinsic portal vein development was associated with different shunt conformations or patient age at the time of CT.

Exponential Fusion of Interpolated Frames Network (EFIF-Net): Advancing Multi-Frame Image Super-Resolution with Convolutional Neural Networks.

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have become instrumental in advancing multi-frame image super-resolution (SR), a technique that merges multiple low-resolution images of the same scene into a high-resolution image. In this paper, a novel deep learning multi-frame SR algorithm is introduced. The proposed CNN model, named Exponential Fusion of Interpolated Frames Network (EFIF-Net), seamlessly integrates fusion and restoration within an end-to-end network.

Computed tomographic findings in a canine ovarian teratoma.

A 2-year-old, intact female, Labrador Retriever was referred for progressive abdominal distension, assessed by emergency clinicians as being extrauterine in origin on AFAST. Abdominal radiographs and ultrasound identified a large, lobulated, partially mineralized, soft tissue, mid-abdominal mass and gravid uterus. Contrast-enhanced CT identified a mixed fat to soft tissue attenuating mass with a complex internal mineralized matrix, heterogeneous contrast enhancement, receiving blood from the left ovarian artery.

Performance Analysis in Children of Traditional and Deep Learning CT Lung Nodule Computer-Aided Detection Systems Trained on Adults.

Although primary lung cancer is rare in children, chest CT is commonly performed to assess for lung metastases in children with cancer. Lung nodule computer-aided detection (CAD) systems have been designed and studied primarily using adult training data, and the efficacy of such systems when applied to pediatric patients is poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to evaluate in children the diagnostic performance of traditional and deep learning CAD systems trained with adult data for the detection of lung nodules on chest CT scans and to compare the ability of such systems to generalize to children versus to other adults.

Telehealth Uptake and Impact on Care Activities in Australian General Practice During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a shift in the delivery of patient care, with telehealth rapidly scaled to facilitate access to care while reducing risks of COVID-19 transmission. In this paper, we present an overview of key findings regarding telehealth use from a large program of work examining the impact of the pandemic on general practice activity in Australia. Our findings demonstrate the pivotal role telehealth played in enabling patient access to care during the first two years of the pandemic.

A retrospective observational study of telehealth utilisation for mental health consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic in Australian general practices.

Unlabelled: Objectives and importance of study: Despite the abundance of mental health research during the pandemic, there is limited evidence exploring mental health presentations to Australian general practice. This study examined the utilisation of telehealth for mental health consultations in Australian general practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objectives were to: 1) determine the proportion of mental health services delivered via telehealth between March 2020 and November 2021; 2) determine the types of mental health consultations most frequently delivered via telehealth; and 3) model the sociodemographic characteristics of patients using telehealth mental health consultations, including consultation type.

We conducted a single-center retrospective study of 1156 consecutive lung transplants performed from 2010-2019. We used log-binomial regression to identify risk factors for infection and analyzed clinical management and outcomes.

Background: Better adherence to guideline-recommended glycated haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) testing frequency is associated with better glycaemic control and lower risk of complications such as chronic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A cohort of type 2 diabetes patients who regularly visited general practices from 2012 to 2018 was identified from 225 Australian general practices.

A framework for conducting policy-relevant primary care research: a COVID-19 case study in Australia.

The onset of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by SARS-CoV-2, and the ensuing implementation of response measures directly impacted the delivery of Australian primary care services. Understanding how these measures affected practice activity is important for gauging both their effectiveness and implications for future service planning. During the first 2years of the COVID-19 pandemic, a research project was undertaken to determine the impact of the pandemic on Australian general practice activity as a collaborative undertaking between researchers, general practitioners, data custodians, and five primary health networks from New South Wales and Victoria, Australia.

General practice perspective on the use of telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia using an Action Research approach: a qualitative study.

Atmospheric optical turbulence mitigation using iterative image registration and least squares lucky look fusion.

This paper presents an atmospheric optical turbulence mitigation method that uses a sequence of short-exposure frames. An iterative block matching registration method is proposed for image dewarping. The dewarped frames are combined in a least squares lucky look (LL) fusion process.
