Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is an autosomally dominant tumor suppressor syndrome and multisystem disease. Central giant-cell granulomas (CGCGs) can be seen in patients with NF1. A 21-year-old female was diagnosed with two CGCGs, one in the mandible and then one in the maxilla, in a 7-year period.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of upper airway stimulation therapy in patients with a floppy epiglottis who have experienced continuous positive airway pressure failure or intolerance.
Methods: A retrospective single-center cohort study was conducted. Patients who received an Inspire Upper Airway Stimulation system and had a 1-year follow-up were included.
The introduction of the Metaverse and the rise of social virtual reality platforms such as VRChat has led to increased communication and collaboration in virtual reality. As interactions in social virtual reality take place through avatars, the behaviour, and in particular the eye gaze of an avatar can have an impact on the user experience. However, it is still unclear which features of the user experience are most influenced.

Design: Cross-sectional study.
Methods: Data were collected between February and May 2021.
Purpose: Hypoglossal nerve stimulation is a promising alternative therapy for patients with obstructive sleep apnea with continuous positive airway pressure intolerance or failure. Previous studies concluded that a velar complete concentric collapse might prohibit a good therapeutic outcome. However, certain patients have an upper velar anteroposterior collapse and a lower velar complete concentric collapse.

To retrospectively analyze objective and subjective outcome measures after long-term follow-up in obstructive sleep apnea patients receiving upper airway stimulation. An observational retrospective single-center cohort study including a consecutive series of patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea receiving upper airway stimulation.

Although family contextual factors associated with depressive symptoms differ among boys and girls without PHIV, it is unclear whether this is also the case among youth with PHIV. Participants included 314 youth with PHIV (M = 12.

Methods: This observational retrospective study comprised 30 patients diagnosed with OSA and CPAP failure, who underwent DISE while administering CPAP therapy. During DISE, the upper airway was assessed with and without CPAP therapy using the VOTE classification.
Objective: To determine the rate and risk factors for osteoradionecrosis (ORN) in osseous free flaps after postoperative radiation therapy (PORT). To describe the treatment of free flap ORN.
Methods: Seventy-four patients undergoing osseous free flap reconstruction were analyzed.
Gorham-Stout disease (GSD) is a rare form of osteolysis, the aetiology and pathogenesis of which remains controversial to this date. Although more than 200 cases of GSD have been reported so far, this disease continues to go undiagnosed in the initial stages owing to its varied clinical presentations and rarity. Through this case report of GSD in a 3-year-old boy, we discuss the slow progression of the disease over a period of 13 years.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the early postoperative complications related to tracheotomy performed by surgeons and residents in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the University of Florida College of Dentistry (UFCD; Gainesville, FL). The authors hypothesized that complications with this surgical technique would be substantially different among the different medical diagnoses of these patients and the number of complications would positively correlate with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification.
Patients And Methods: The authors implemented a retrospective study of all patients who underwent a tracheotomy procedure by the UFCD OMS department from July 2011 through March 2015.
Three intrauterine devices (IUDs) are available in the United States: the copper T 380A and two levonorgestrel-releasing IUDs, one that releases 20 mcg of levonorgestrel per 24 hours, and one that releases 14 mcg per 24 hours. All are safe and effective methods of contraception that work predominantly by prefertilization mechanisms. The copper T 380A IUD may be placed in nonpregnant women at any time in the menstrual cycle.

The aim of this multicenter management study was to investigate the safety of home treatment of patients with PE with low (< 500 pg mL(-1)) NT-proBNP.
Methods And Results: Hemodynamically stable outpatients with acute PE and NT-proBNP level < 500 pg mL(-1) were included.
Objective: The authors examine the functional anatomy of serotonergic and dopaminergic systems in obsessive-compulsive disorder in psychotropic-naive patients without comorbidity.
Method: [(123)I]beta-CIT binding patterns for dopamine and serotonin transporters in the brain were measured in 15 psychotropic-naive adult outpatients with OCD (no comorbidity) and in 15 pairwise-matched healthy subjects. Volumes of interest were constructed on magnetic resonance imaging scans and coregistered with single photon emission computed tomography scans.

Twenty-nine healthcare workers (HCW) were exposed to an active case of unrecognized drug-susceptible pulmonary tuberculosis in a community hospital for as long as 2 h in the emergency room and 10 h in a medical intensive care unit. Twelve of the 29 exposed HCW could not be evaluated for tuberculosis infection because 10 of them had a previously positive tuberculin skin test and two were lost to follow-up. Of the remaining 17 tuberculin skin test negative HCW, 13 (76%) either converted their skin test to positive (10 HCW) or developed active disease (three HCW) after exposure to the index case.

After identifying the high incidence of hypoxia by the use of pulse oximetry, supplemental oxygen was given to another group of patients and the incidence of the hypoxia was again monitored. Twenty of 100 patients experienced hypoxic episodes in the postanesthetic recovery unit when no supplemental oxygen was administered; only 3 of an additional 100 patients who received supplemental oxygen had episodes of hypoxia.
