Relationship between GPS-based community mobility data and orthopedic trauma admissions during the COVID-19 pandemic in Austria: a multicenter analysis.

Objective: The main objective of this study was to examine the relationship between mobility patterns during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and orthopedic trauma patients in Austria. Utilizing global positioning system (GPS)-based mobility data, the attempt was to assess both the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on reducing orthopedic trauma patients and the degree of compliance to the imposed movement restrictions.

Methods: This retrospective analysis included all patients (283,501) treated at 3 major level I trauma centers in Austria.

Suture anchor repair is a fairly new surgical technique for quadriceps tendon ruptures. It is supposed to be superior to the standard transosseus sutures because of biomechanical superiority and - due to a less invasive surgery - earlier rehabilitation onset. This study focused on analyzing functionality of the quadriceps muscle during gait as well as body composition between a suture anchor and a transosseus suture repair group and is the first study that undertook systematic gait analyses in this patient population.

Biomechanical studies have shown the use of suture anchors (SA) to be superior to the traditional transosseous sutures (TS) in the repair of quadriceps tendon rupture (QTR). This study aimed to analyze and compare the functional outcomes of patients treated for quadriceps tendon ruptures using suture anchors or transosseous sutures. Patients having undergone suture anchor repair or transosseous suture repair for quadriceps tendon rupture between 2010 and 2015 at one of the two participating hospitals were included.

Management and outcome of interprosthetic femoral fractures.

Introduction: Interprosthetic femoral fractures following ipsilateral hip and knee arthroplasty are a rare but serious complication in clinical practice. In most cases, adequate management of these injuries might constitute a challenging problem. However, the literature provides only few data regarding the treatment and outcome of interprosthetic femoral fractures, and there are only few classifications available, which might assist in finding an appropriate treatment concept.
