Despite the critical role of balanced nutrition in crop productivity, the use of potash (K) and zinc (Zn) is not much practiced by Pakistani farmers. The reduced nutrient uptake and crop productivity together increase the costs associated with fertilization and revisit farmers' confidence in the efficacy and profitability of fertilizers. To address this problem, a field study was conducted in the research area of the MNS-University of Agriculture, Multan, in collaboration with Engro Fertilizers Limited.

This study aimed to predict dental freeway space by examining the clinical history, habits, occlusal parameters, mandibular hard tissue movement, soft tissue motion, muscle activity, and temporomandibular joint function of 66 participants. Data collection involved video-based facial landmark tracking, mandibular electrognathography, surface electromyography of mandibular range of motion, freeway space, chewing tasks, phonetic expressions, joint vibration analysis, and 3D jaw scans of occlusion. This resulted in a dataset of 121 predictor features, with freeway space as the target variable.

This research paper proposes a novel approach for constructing substitution boxes (S-boxes) over Gaussian integers, which are complex numbers with integer coefficients. The proposed method is based on the properties of the Gaussian integers and their arithmetic operations and ensures the S-boxes exhibit strong cryptographic properties. Furthermore, the paper demonstrates how these S-boxes can be utilized for image encryption through a substitution-permutation network (SPN) over Gaussian integers.

An unusual manifestation caused by cholecystitis, infection, or iatrogenic damage after cholecystectomy is a pseudoaneurysm of the cystic artery. We report this rare illness in a 64-year-old man who visited the emergency room with hematemesis and anemia. The patient initially experienced acute cholecystitis and then underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy following which he developed a cystic artery pseudoaneurysm, secondary to infected fluid collection.

Challenges arise in accessing archived signal outputs due to proprietary software limitations. There is a notable lack of exploration in open-source mandibular EMG signal conversion for continuous access and analysis, hindering tasks such as pattern recognition and predictive modelling for temporomandibular joint complex function. To Develop a workflow to extract normalised signal parameters from images of mandibular muscle EMG and identify optimal clustering methods for quantifying signal intensity and activity durations.

  • The study aimed to compare the incidence of pulmonary barotrauma, a lung injury caused by mechanical ventilation, in COVID-19 patients and those with other respiratory issues.
  • Conducted at Aga Khan University Hospital, the research analyzed data from patients on mechanical ventilation between October 2020 and March 2021, dividing them into a COVID-19 group and a control group.
  • Results showed a significantly higher incidence of barotrauma in the COVID-19 group (34%) compared to the control group (5.5%), highlighting increased risks for patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome due to COVID-19.

A woman in her 20s, who was pregnant, underwent a routine antenatal ultrasound revealing organised intraventricular haemorrhage and a vascular area in the left thalamic region. Fetal MRI raised suspicion of arteriovenous malformation (AVM). The baby was delivered at 36 weeks via C-section, and initial brain MRI suggested a possible neoplastic lesion.

The most serious type of coronary artery disease (CAD), acute myocardial infarction (AMI), is a major global cause of death. The development of AMI is accompanied by several risk factors. AMI may be caused by variations in the microRNA (miRNA) genes, which have a negative impact on miRNA-mediated regulation of gene expression.

Application of organic residues such as farm manure and biochar in various agricultural environments have shown positive effects on soil carbon sequestration. However, there is a lack of consensus regarding the agronomical benefits of a single and small dose of biochar and farm manure in arid alkaline soils. Therefore, a field experiment with the given treatments (1) control (no amendment), (2) acidified manure (AM) at 300 kg ha, (3) nitrogen (N) enriched biochar (NeB) at 3 Mg ha, and (4) an equal combination of AM + NeB (150 kg ha AM + 1.

A nano-micro heterostructure has been established to address the challenges of selectivity, stress, pitting corrosion, and long-term durability of anodes in unpurified seawater. The heterostructure comprised NiOOH nanosheets embedded within a high surface area Ni(OH) microarray, and the surface structure is further functionalized with sulfate (SO). This cation-selective protective layer impedes chloride (Cl) diffusion and abstracts H from reaction intermediates, leading to enhanced selectivity and corrosion resistance of the anode.

Background: There are likely to be hundreds of monogenic forms of human male infertility. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) is the most efficient way to make progress in mapping the causative genetic variants, and ultimately improve clinical management of the disease in each patient. Recruitment of consanguineous families is an effective approach to ascertain the genetic forms of many diseases.

Introduction: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, single-stranded RNA molecules that negatively regulate gene expression and play a key role in the pathogenesis of human diseases. Recent studies have suggested that miRNAs contribute to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, the association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in miRNAs and myocardial infarction (MI) remains in infancy.

In order to achieve rapid detection of galactooligosaccharides (GOS), fructooligosaccharides (FOS), calcium (Ca), and vitamin C (Vc), four micronutrient components in infant formula milk powder, this study employed four methods, namely Standard Normal Variate (SNV), Multiplicative Scatter Correction (MSC), Normalization (Nor), and Savitzky-Golay Smoothing (SG), to preprocess the acquired original spectra of the milk powder. Then, the Competitive Adaptive Reweighted Sampling (CARS) algorithm and Random Frog (RF) algorithm were used to extract representative characteristic wavelengths. Furthermore, Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR) and Support Vector Regression (SVR) models were established to predict the contents of GOS, FOS, Ca, and Vc in infant formula milk powder.

Modern microwave devices are designed to fulfill stringent requirements pertaining to electrical performance, which requires, among others, a meticulous tuning of their geometry parameters. When moving up in frequency, physical dimensions of passive microwave circuits become smaller, making the system performance increasingly susceptible to manufacturing tolerances. In particular, inherent inaccuracy of fabrication processes affect the fundamental operating parameters, such as center frequency or bandwidth, which is especially troublesome for narrow-band structures, including notch filters.
