Objective: This study aims to investigate the alterations in serum bile acid profiles among individuals with fatty liver (including non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and alcoholic fatty liver (AFL) and evaluate their clinical significance when combined with liver enzyme levels.
Methods: A cohort of 110 individuals with fatty liver (including non-alcoholic fatty liver 58 individuals and alcoholic fatty liver 52 individuals) was selected from the Department of Gastroenterology at Wenzhou People's Hospital between January 2021 and December 2022, while a control group of 66 healthy individuals was recruited from the hospital's health examination center during the same period. Clinical data and blood samples were collected from all participants.
We recorded and analyzed the microwave spectra of 2,5-dimethylanisole using a pulsed molecular jet Fourier transform microwave spectrometer and the newly developed Passage And Resonant-Impulse Synergy spectrometer across a frequency range of 2-26.5 GHz with support from quantum chemical calculations. Only one conformer was predicted and observed, where the methoxy group and its adjacent methyl group adopt anti-positions.

In the clinic, some females would undergo more than one controlled ovarian stimulation cycle. However, few studies have focused on the influence of multi-superovulation on oocytes and offspring.

Manufacturing SAAs requires complex and expensive synthesis methods to precisely control the atomic scale dispersion to form diluted alloys with less active sites and easy sintering of host metal, which is still in the early stages of development. Here, we address these limitations with a straightforward strategy from a brand-new perspective involving the 'islanding effect' for manufacturing SAAs without dilution: homogeneous RuNi alloys were continuously refined to highly dispersed alloy-islands (~1 nm) with completely single-atom sites where the relative metal loading was as high as 40 %.

Changes in hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) channels contribute to disease-associated abnormalities in multiple neurodegenerative diseases.
Methods: To investigate the link between tau and HCN channels, we performed histological, biochemical, ultrastructural, and functional analyses of hippocampal tissues from Alzheimer's disease (AD), age-matched controls, Tau35 mice, and/or Tau35 primary hippocampal neurons.
The traditional method for power load forecasting is susceptible to various factors, including holidays, seasonal variations, weather conditions, and more. These factors make it challenging to ensure the accuracy of forecasting results. Additionally, there is a limitation in extracting meaningful physical signs from power data, which ultimately reduces prediction accuracy.

Methods: In this study, we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) using 156 Chinese soybean accessions over a two-year period.
Background: PCOS patients with unexpectedly low oocyte yield following conventional ovarian stimulation are referred to as suboptimal responders. However, identifying suboptimal responders presents a significant challenge within reproductive medicine and limited research exists on the occurrence of suboptimal response. This analysis aimed to develop a predictive model of suboptimal response during in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) treatments in PCOS patients.

Background: Identifying poor ovarian response (POR) among patients with good ovarian reserve poses a significant challenge within reproductive medicine. Currently, there is a lack of published data on the potential risk factors that could predict the occurrence of unexpected POR. The objective of this study was to develop a predictive model to assess the individual probability of unexpected POR during fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) treatments.

The internal rotation of two inequivalent methyl groups with low torsional barriers (around 16 and 226 cm-1) causes splittings of all rotational transitions into quintets with separations of up to hundreds of MHz between the torsional components.

Soil enzyme activity and bacterial community have a critical function in improving the tolerance to soybean. Our aim was to assess the activities of soil enzyme, the structure of bacteria and their potential functions for salt resistance between Salt-tolerant (Salt-T) and -sensitive (Salt-S) soybean genotypes when subject to salt stress.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFDifferent crop genotypes showed different adaptability to salt stress, which is partly attributable to the microorganisms in the rhizosphere. Yet, knowledge about how fungal communities of different genotypes in soybean respond to salt stress is limited. Here, qPCR and ITS sequencing were used to assess the response of rhizobial fungal communities of resistant and susceptible soybean to salt stress.

Methods: A total of 240 hospitalized patients who underwent a colonoscopy in Wenzhou People's Hospital, Wenzhou Third Clinical College of Wenzhou Medical University from July 2020 to June 2022 were randomly divided into two groups, with 120 patients each. All of the participants were given a low-residue or residue-free diet one day before the examination and fasted after dinner (completed before 18:00) the day before the examination.
Background: Studies have reported that certain adverse reactions can occur during painless gastroscopy examination. Knowing how to decrease the risks and incidence of adverse reactions is of great importance.
Objective: To investigate whether topical pharyngeal anesthesia combined with intravenous anesthesia is superior to intravenous anesthesia alone in patients undergoing painless gastroscopy and to determine whether this combined approach had any additional benefits.
Background: Circular RNA (circRNA) has been proved to be an important regulator of gastric cancer (GC). However, the role and regulatory mechanism of circrna related competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) in GC have not been established.
Methods: CircRNA data and clinical data were obtained from the GEO and TCGA databases.
Common bean () is an important food crop; however, its production is affected by salt stress. Salt stress can inhibit seed germination, promote senescence, and modify cell wall biosynthesis, assembly, and architecture. Melatonin, an indole heterocycle, has been demonstrated to greatly impact cell wall structure, composition, and regulation in plants under stress.

Rutin is a plant flavonoid with a wide biological activity range. In this study, flavonoid (rutin) accumulation and its related molecular mechanisms in germinating common bean () were observed at different time points (0-120 h) under salt stress (NaCl).

Recently, single-atom photocatalysts (SAPs) are promising catalysts with maximized metal dispersion and tuneable coordination environments. SAPs exhibit boosted photocatalytic performance by enhancing optical response, facilitating charge carrier transfer behaviors or directly manipulating surface reaction processes.

Methods: Between September 2020 and March 2021, 341 patients who were diagnosed with Hp infection and whose infections were confirmed by gastroscopy, a histological examination, and a C13-UBT without culturing and antimicrobial susceptibility studies received a two-week anti-Hp treatment, a modified quadruple therapy, in our department. The result of C13-UBT was rechecked 4 weeks after the drug withdrawal, and the patients were divided into two groups-a success group and a failure group-according to the final breath result.
Sampling of the vast conformational landscape of organic compounds remains a challenging task in computational chemistry, especially when it comes to the characterization of soft-degrees of freedom and relatively small energy barriers between different local minima. Therefore, studying the intrinsic properties of isolated molecules using focused experiments such as high-resolution molecular spectroscopy provides a powerful approach to validate and improve available quantum chemical methods. Here, we report on the most abundant gas-phase structure of ethyl 2-methyl pentanoate under molecular jet conditions, which we used to benchmark several exchange-correlation functionals and ab initio methods at the quantum chemical level.
