Although previous studies have shown that preoperative pulmonary rehabilitation training may improve postoperative prognosis in patients with lung cancer, the literature included in the existing meta-analysis is highly heterogeneous and lacks effective subgroup analysis. Therefore, an updated meta-analysis is needed to integrate the latest published randomized controlled clinical trials (RCT). This updated analysis was performed to identify the clinical effects of preoperative pulmonary rehabilitation on physical rehabilitation (lung function, activity endurance, and dyspnea), psychological rehabilitation, quality of life, length of hospital stay, and postoperative pulmonary complications in patients with lung cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • The research investigates the long-term effects of various polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) models in rats, focusing on their impact on metabolic and reproductive health.
  • Four models were tested: letrozole, letrozole with a high-fat diet, testosterone propionate, and testosterone propionate with a high-fat diet, observing parameters such as body weight, hormone levels, and gut microbiome.
  • The findings suggest that letrozole is valuable for studying metabolic issues, while testosterone propionate is better for reproductive studies; combining testosterone with a high-fat diet provides a comprehensive overview of both reproductive and metabolic disturbances in PCOS.

Background: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is a tricky puzzle that disturbs female reproduction worldwide. According to previous research, Bushen Antai recipe (BAR), a classic Chinese herbal formula widely used in clinic for miscarriage, exhibited multifaceted benefits in improving embryo implantation and attenuating early pregnancy loss. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), a set of immunoregulatory cells critical in inflammation balance, get growing attention for their indispensable role in successful pregnancy.

Article Synopsis
  • - Microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) are new pollutants that raise concerns for both environmental and human health due to their ability to enter the body through various means like eating, breathing, and skin contact.
  • - Research has shown that these plastics can negatively affect the liver, gastrointestinal system, and may lead to increased inflammation, while considering their reproductive toxicity, especially in females, including potential impacts on infertility and fetal development.
  • - The review highlights the harmful effects of MPs/NPs and their interaction with other pollutants, suggesting they could worsen reproductive issues across different species, which helps in understanding their potential risks for humans.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is known as a prevalent but complicated gynecologic disease throughout the reproductive period. Typically, it is characterized by phenotypic manifestations of hyperandrogenism, polycystic ovary morphology, and persistent anovulation. For now, the therapeutic modality of PCOS is still a formidable challenge.

Objective: The aim of the study is to investigate the serum metabolomics of electroacupuncture (EA) with different current intensities in the treatment of functional constipation (FC).

Methods: The total number of FC patients was 19, (7, 6, 6, in the low current intensity group (LCI), high current intensity group (HCI), and mosapride citrate tablet control group (MC), respectively). Patients in the EA groups received 16 sessions of acupuncture treatments.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Bushen Huoxue recipe (BSHXR) is a widely used prescription medicine for treating gynecological diseases. We have previously found that BSHXR can improve the pregnancy outcome of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) mice by modulating the abnormal high level of progesterone. While the pharmacological mechanism of such therapeutic effect is not clear.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent endocrine disease characterized by hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and ovarian polycystic changes, which combines with reproductive problems, metabolic disorders, and psychological disorders to exhibit a far-reaching impact on the physical and mental health of women. We reviewed previous research and discovered that psychiatric disorders are more common in PCOS patients and their children, potentially exacerbating the condition and creating a vicious loop. To understand the reasons, relevant articles were collected following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines from PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library, through December 2022.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Spontaneous abortion (SA) is an intricate disorder affecting women of reproductive age. Previous studies have confirmed the indispensable role of signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 3 in normal pregnancy. Bushen Antai recipe (BAR) is a satisfactory formula commonly used in practice, based on the rationale of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for SA.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of acupuncture for improving the pregnancy rate of COH rats from the viewpoint of regulating the opening time of the implantation window and endometrial receptivity.

Methods: Experimental rats were randomly divided into normal group (N), model group (M) and acupuncture group(A), and samples were collected on Day 4, 5 and 6 after mating. COH rats were treated with acupuncture at SP6, LR3, and ST36 once a day for 7 times.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of manual acupuncture on endometrial blood flow parameters by three-dimensional (3D) power Doppler ultrasound in women undergoing in vitro fertilization embryo transfer (IVF-ET).

Methods: Seventy patients undergoing IVF-ET were equally randomized into traditional or sham acupuncture treatment group for totally 4 days (from the day of oocyte aspiration to the day of embryo transfer) of treatment by random envelope method at the Reproductive Medicine Center and Outpatient Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medicine College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 2013 to December 2015. Patients in the traditional acupuncture group accepted traditional acupuncture methods with manual acupuncture, and Zhongji (CV3), Qihai (CV 6), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Taichong (LR 3), Tianshu (ST 25), Guilai (ST 29) and Zusanli (ST 36) were chosen.

Sintilimab is a fully human IgG4 monoclonal antibody against programmed death-1 (PD-1) used to treat classical Hodgkin's lymphoma and various solid tumors. With increasing use of sintilimab, some rare adverse reactions have been reported. Here, we report a case of a 50-year-old woman with squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (metastasis to pericardium and pleura) who received two cycles of 200 mg sintilimab immunotherapy combined with albumin-bound paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy and one cycle of sintilimab monotherapy.
