Development and validation of a prognostic nomogram for elderly-onset pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinoma: a prospective cohort study from the SEER database.

Background: The incidence of elderly-onset pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinoma (PanNEC) is increasing. This study investigated independent risk factors affecting cancer-specific survival (CSS) and constructed a nomogram to predict CSS in patients with elderly-onset PanNEC.

Methods: PanNEC patients older than 50 years from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database were retrospectively selected from 2010 to 2021 and were randomly divided into a training set and a validation set.

Clinical features and risk of multiple primary malignancies after endoscopic treatment in patients with early esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: The incidence of multiple primary malignancies (MPMs) after early esophageal cancer is increasing. This study aimed to explore the clinical features of patients with MPMs and identify independent risk factors for the development of MPMs after endoscopic treatment in early esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients.

Methods: Patients diagnosed as early ESCC at Beijing Friendship Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.

In vitro digestion mimicking conditions in adults and elderly reveals digestive characteristics of pork from different cooking ways.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of three cooking ways (sous vide (SV), frying (FR) and roasting (RO)) on pork protein digestion characteristics under conditions simulating healthy adult (control, C) and elderly individuals with achlorhydria (EA). Changes in degree of hydrolysis (DH), SDS-PAGE profiles, zeta potential, particle size and secondary structure during digestion were evaluated. Our results revealed the EA condition markedly affected the protein digestion process of pork with different cooking ways.

A pan-cancer analysis of the prognosis and immune infiltration of eEF1A2 and its potential function in thyroid carcinoma.

Purpose: Eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1α2 (eEF1A2) promotes tumour progression in various cancers. We performed a pan-cancer analysis of eEF1A2 and explored its role in thyroid carcinoma (THCA).

Methods: Databases from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), the University of Alabama at Birmingham Cancer data analysis Portal (UALCAN), and the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) were used to investigate the differential expression of eEF1A2 in pan-cancer.

Chylous fistula after right breast fibroadenoma resection: a case report.

Chylous fistula is a common postoperative complication for the head and neck surgery, thoracic and upper gastrointestinal surgery, but it rarely happens after breast surgery. There are few reports of chylous fistula after breast benign tumor resection according to literature retrieval. To our acknowledgement, this is the first case report of chylous fistula after breast fibroadenoma resection.

Less micrometastatic risk related to circulating tumor cells after endoscopic breast cancer surgery compared to open surgery.

Background: Increase of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) has been found after surgery for various carcinomas but not confirmed for breast cancer, and whether endoscopic surgery confers identical effect to CTCs as open surgery did is not clear. The present study aimed to investigate whether CTCs increase after surgery and whether there is a difference between open surgery and endoscopic surgery.

Methods: Pre- and postoperative peripheral blood (5 mL) obtained from 110 female patients with operable breast cancer (53 underwent endoscopic surgery, 57 underwent open radical mastectomy).

Unilateral Axilla-Bilateral Areola Approach for Thyroidectomy by da Vinci Robot: 500 Cases Treated by the Same Surgeon.

: To investigate the efficacy and safety of da Vinci robot-assisted thyroidectomy via an unilateral axilla-bilateral areola (UABA) approach. : The clinical data of 500 patients undergoing robotic thyroidectomy via an UABA approach from July 2014 to April 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. All 500 patients were operated on by the same surgeon and divided into two groups by the time sequence.

First report of in-situ preservation of a subcapsular parathyroid gland through super-meticulous capsular dissection during robotic radical thyroidectomy.

Purpose: Meticulous capsular dissection can preserve the function of the parathyroid gland in most patients, but it is difficult to identify and preserve the subcapsular parathyroid gland. We performed in-situ preservation of the subcapsular parathyroid gland during robotic radical thyroidectomy using super-meticulous capsular dissection, and evaluated its effect on postoperative parathyroid function.

Germline mutations in 40 cancer susceptibility genes among Chinese patients with high hereditary risk breast cancer.

Multigene panel testing of breast cancer predisposition genes have been extensively conducted in Europe and America, which is relatively rare in Asia however. In this study, we assessed the frequency of germline mutations in 40 cancer predisposition genes, including BRCA1 and BRCA2, among a large cohort of Chinese patients with high hereditary risk of BC. From 2015 to 2016, consecutive BC patients from 26 centers of China with high hereditary risk were recruited (n = 937).
