Article Synopsis
  • The particle-on-mirror nanocavity boosts nonlinear optical processes at the nanoscale, particularly enhancing second and third-harmonic generations from monolayer MoS.
  • The use of a multi-resonant Au nanosphere dimer-on-mirror nanocavity results in 15-fold and 68-fold enhancements in second and third-harmonic generation, respectively, due to plasmon hybridization with the Au substrate that aligns cavity modes with SH and TH frequencies.
  • The findings suggest potential for developing cost-effective and efficient nonlinear photonics devices using integrated plasmonic nanocavities.

Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common kidney tumor. The analysis from medical database showed that Scm-like with four MBT domains protein 2 (SFMBT2) was decreased in advanced clear cell RCC cases, and its downregulation was associated with the poor prognosis. This study aims to investigate the role of SFMBT2 in clear cell RCC.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study focused on aptamer 2B.N2A9, which showed strong binding to Neu5Gc with a binding affinity constant of 1.87 × 10 L/mol and was effective in a pH range of 5.4 to 7.4, indicating its potential for detecting Neu5Gc levels in foods.
  • * A new Enzyme-Linked Oligonucleotide Sorbent Assay (

The meat derived from mammals such as cows, sheep, and pigs is commonly referred to as red meat. Recent studies have shown that consuming red meat can activate the immune system, produce antibodies, and subsequently develop into tumors and cancer. This is due to the presence of a potential carcinogenic compound in red meat called -ethanol neuraminic acid (Neu5Gc).

Listeria monocytogenes (LM) is an important foodborne pathogen that is associated with a high mortality rate. Currently, there is an urgent need for an inexpensive and rapid assay for the large-scale diagnosis and monitoring of LM. To meet these requirements, we designed a one-step, low-cost platform for the simultaneous amplification and detection of LM based on the CRISPR/Cas12a system with a micro-amplification (named Cas12a-MA).

A high geological background can increase the ecological and health risks associated with crop production; therefore, it is essential to assess the heavy metals and their impact. In this study, ecological and health risk impacts of heavy metal contamination, in combination with positive matrix factorization was assessed for an area with high geological background with wheat-maize cropping system, to provide a quantitative understanding of the effects of heavy metals, enabling its prevention and control. This study revealed that the comprehensive ecological risk (RI) is 56.

The evaporation of water nanofilms on a solid surface is a widespread and important process in many fields. Herein, we utilize molecular dynamics simulations to demonstrate that the evaporation of a water nanofilm is regulated by applying an alternating electric field (AEF). An AEF at a specific frequency can be resonantly absorbed by the water film.
