Article Synopsis
  • The capture of radioactive iodine is crucial due to its negative health effects.
  • A new Th-based metal-organic framework called ECUT-Th-11 is developed for iodine capture, showing impressive performance.
  • ECUT-Th-11 can capture iodine vapor at 2.03 g/g and has a maximum capacity of 258.03 mg/g in a cyclohexane solution, making it a strong candidate for removing waste iodine.

Selective capture of palladium (Pd) is one of the important works in science due to its high application and low content in the Earth's crust. To this end, we present herein a new Cu(I)-organic framework (ECUT-MOF-1) by introducing pyridine N active sites to chelate Pd(II). ECUT-MOF-1 demonstrated that the maximal adsorption capacity of Pd(II) was 350 mg/g in pH = 3 solution.
