Objective: (MSU) crystals usually in the kidney tubules especially collecting ducts in the medulla. Previous animal models have not fully reproduced the impact of MSU on kidneys under non-hyperuricemic conditions.

Methods: In the group treated with MSU, the upper pole of the rat kidney was injected intrarenally with 50 mg/kg of MSU, while the lower pole was injected with an equivalent volume of PBS solution.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the diuretic plant Orthosiphon stamineus Benth. for its potential benefits in preserving kidney function, comparing its powdered form with a boiling water extract.
  • Approximately 92 compounds were identified, revealing that boiling the plant created 48 new compounds, and several beneficial metabolites were observed in rat plasma, highlighting specific actions in kidney tissues.
  • Advanced analytical techniques like UHPLC-Q-Exactive-Orbitrap-HRMS were used to analyze the chemical composition and spatial distribution of these compounds, providing insights for future research on kidney health.

Changes in lifestyle induce an increase in patients with hyperuricemia (HUA), leading to gout, gouty arthritis, renal damage, and cardiovascular injury. There is a strong inflammatory response in the process of HUA, while dysregulation of immune cells, including monocytes, macrophages, and T cells, plays a crucial role in the inflammatory response. Recent studies have indicated that urate has a direct impact on immune cell populations, changes in cytokine expression, modifications in chemotaxis and differentiation, and the provocation of immune cells by intrinsic cells to cause the aforementioned conditions.

Background: The diabetic kidney disease (DKD) has become a seriously kidney disease that commonly caused by diabetes mellitus (DM). Oxidative stress response plays an essential role in the genesis and worsening of DKD and Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) has been reported the promising clinical effectiveness on DKD treatment. However, there is lack of relative evidence-based medical evidence currently.
