The development of low-porosity and low-permeability oil reservoirs in the Changqing oilfield presents a significant challenge due to the high injection pressure and limited space for profile control and pressure raising. Therefore, the synergistic profile control and flooding technology of polymer microspheres (PMs) and nanoemulsions is proposed, which makes use of the plugging performance of PMs and the pressure-reducing and oil-driving properties of nanoemulsions, with the objective of controlling the water-absorbing profile and increasing the recovery rate. The paper assessed the properties of nanoemulsions and PMs and evaluated their suitability for reservoirs.

  • Osteoporosis (OP) is diagnosed by evaluating bone mineral density (BMD) and often leads to fractures; this study explored the link between dietary antioxidants and OP risk using Mendelian randomization (MR).
  • Researchers analyzed various forms of antioxidants, such as retinol and ascorbate, to examine their impact on BMD in different body regions and fracture types.
  • The findings revealed that higher levels of retinol are significantly associated with increased heel BMD, especially in men, emphasizing the need for further research and public health strategies focused on nutrition to prevent OP.

In this study, polyoxometalates (POMs) as a core-modifying material was used to fabricate the nanofiltration (NF) membrane on the polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) microfiltration membrane substrate via a novel interfacial polymerization (IP) method. The formation mechanism of the POMs-modified composite membrane was proposed. The separation and antifouling properties were further investigated.

  • Phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase (PI3K) β is crucial for certain tumors, especially those lacking PTEN, and is linked to conditions like thrombosis and Fragile X syndrome.
  • Targeting PI3Kβ specifically may offer effective treatment options while reducing the side effects associated with broad-acting PI3K inhibitors.
  • This review highlights recent progress in creating selective PI3Kβ inhibitors and suggests strategies for developing new clinical candidates.

Although constructing innovative cities stimulates innovation, it may further widen regional innovation differences. Based on panel data from 275 cities in China from 2003 to 2020, the difference-in-differences method was used to examine the impact of the innovative city pilot policy on urban innovation convergence. The study finds that the pilot policy not only improves the innovation level of cities (basic effect) but also promotes innovation convergence among pilot cities (convergence effect).

The mechanism of solid-state dendrite formation in high-aluminum Fe-Al alloys is not clear. Applying an in-situ observation technique, the real-time formation and growth of FeAl solid-state dendrites during the eutectoid decomposition of the high-temperature phase FeAl is visualized. In-situ experiments by HT-CSLM reveal that proeutectoid FeAl usually does not preferentially nucleate at grain boundaries regardless of rapid or slow cooling conditions.

To investigate the treatment effect of algae biosorbent on heavy metal wastewater, in this paper, the adsorption effect of powder on heavy metal ions copper, cadmium and nickel was investigated using the uniform experimental method, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and TG-DSC comprehensive thermal analysis. The experimental results showed that the initial concentration of copper ion solution was 25 mg/L, the temperature was 30 °C, the pH value was 8 and the adsorption time was 5 h, which was the best condition for the removal of copper ions by algae powder adsorption, and the removal rate was 83.24%.

With the increasing importance of interdisciplinary research, some studies have focused on the role of reference diversity by analysing reference lists of published papers. However, the relationship between the knowledge diversity of collaborating team members and research performance has been overlooked. In this study, we measured knowledge diversity through the disciplinary attributes of collaborating authors and research performance (understood as societal impact) through altmetric data.

The effects of the preparation method (mixing, chemical polymerization, or ultrasound treatment) on the structure and functional properties of soy protein isolate-(-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (SPI-EGCG) complexes were examined. The mixing treated SPI-EGCG samples (M-SE) were non-covalently linked, while the chemical polymerization and ultrasound treated SPI-EGCG samples (C-SE and U-SE, respectively) were bound covalently. The covalent binding of EGCG with protein improved the molecular weight and changed the structures of the SPI by decreasing the α-helix content.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tibetan medicine Ruyi Zhenbao Pills (RZPs) in the treatment of patients with motor and sensory dysfunction after stroke.

Methods: A total of 120 convalescent stroke patients hospitalized in the Rehabilitation Department of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine from June 2017 to December 2019 were enrolled in this trial. Patients were assigned to control (60 cases) and research (60 cases) groups by computer random assignment.

Despite the widespread clinical use of acupuncture in the treatment of pruritus caused by psoriasis, urticaria, uremic, and other diseases, insights into the mechanism of action of acupuncture are still emerging. For the above reasons, a beneficial effect of acupuncture on pruritus was not recommended or reported in recent clinical practice guidelines. Acupuncture is a kind of physical stimulation, which has the characteristics of multi-channel and multi-target effects.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder characterized by social behavior deficits and stereotyped behaviors in childhood that lacks satisfactory medical intervention. Early swimming intervention is a noninvasive method combining enriched environment and exercise, which has been proven to improve brain development in young children and to treat neurodevelopmental diseases.

Methods: In this study, we tested the autism-like behavior of rats with deletions in exons 11-21 of the gene and evaluated the effect of early swimming intervention (from postnatal day 8 to 60) on the behavior of this animal model of autism.

Targeting PD1/PDL1 with blocking antibodies for cancer therapy has shown promising benefits in the clinic, but only approximately 20-30% of patients develop durable clinical responses to the treatment. Bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) that combine PD1/PDL1 blockade with the modulation of another immune checkpoint target may have greater potential to enhance immune checkpoint blockade therapy. In this study, we identified an anti-PD1 monoclonal antibody, 609A, whose heavy chain can pair with a variety of light chains from different antibodies while maintaining its PD1 binding/blocking activity.

Background: Shoulder-hand syndrome (SHS) refers to a syndrome causing sudden edema, shoulder pain and limited hand function. Qingpeng ointment, a kind of Tibetan medicine, can reduce swelling, relieve pain, tonify stagnation and clear the meridians, which is consistent with the pathological mechanism of SHS after stroke. Therefore, if clinical trials can be used to explore the effectiveness of Qingpeng ointment for the treatment of poststroke SHS and promote its application in clinical medicine, it may prove the specific significance for the treatment of poststroke SHS poststroke SHS.
