The aim of this study is to explore the mechanism of ligustilide, the main active constituent of essential oils of traditional Chinese medicine Angelicae Sinensis Radix, on alleviating oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion(OGD/R) injury in PC12 cells from the perspective of ferroptosis. OGD/R was induced in vitro, and 12 h after ligustilide addition during reperfusion, cell viability was detected by cell counting kit-8(CCK-8) assay. DCFH-DA staining was used to detect the level of intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS).

The level of HClO/ClO in mitochondria is essential to keep the normal function of mitochondria. Therefore, it is meaningful to accurately and quickly monitor ClO in mitochondria. In this work, a new triphenylamine-based fluorescence probe PDTPA was designed and synthesized, in which pyridinium salt and dicyano-vinyl group were introduced as mitochondria targeting site and reaction site for ClO.

Article Synopsis
  • Peroxynitrite (ONOO) is common in living organisms and plays a role in various health issues, making it important to create effective detection tools for it.* -
  • A new fluorescent probe called B-Ch was developed using a technique called intramolecular charge transfer (ICT), which enhances its ability to detect ONOO effectively by changing a chemical group.* -
  • This probe displays clear color and fluorescence changes upon reacting with ONOO, highlighting its advantages, such as visual detection, high selectivity, low sensitivity threshold (22.4 nM), and suitability for cellular imaging.*

There is an urgent need to develop highly sensitive and selective fluorescence probes for ONOO in mitochondria. Herein, we reported a ratiometric fluorescent probe COUS with coumarin-cyanine hybrid as fluorophore and C = C bonds as reaction sites of ONOO. The probe COUS was sensitive and selective to ONOO, and had a large fluorescence emission shift (239 nm) as well as a low detection limit (41.

This study explores the effect of total flavonoids of Rhododendra simsii(TFR) on middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO)-induced cerebral injury in rats and oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation(OGD/R) injury in PC12 cells and the underlying mechanism. The MCAO method was used to induce focal ischemic cerebral injury in rats. Male SD rats were randomized into sham group, model group, and TFR group.

Herein, host-guest complexation between pagoda[]arenes ( = 4, ; = 5, ) and tropylium cation () was investigated in detail. It was found that both and showed surprisingly strong binding affinities toward the tropylium cation with association constants of more than 10 M for the 1:1 host-guest complexes. The theoretical calculations showed different host-guest complexion ways for complexes @ and @ and the strong π···π interactions and multiple C-H···π interactions play a very important role in the formation of these stable complexes, respectively.

A new fluorescent emitter based on π-extended benzothiadiazole was synthesized. The emitter exhibited a large molar extinction coefficient, a high quantum yield of 98% and a large radiative decay rate of 10 s. Moreover, the obtained TADF-sensitized fluorescent OLED displayed excellent device performance with a high EQE of 14.

This paper explored the protective effect of total flavonoids of Rhododendron simsii(TFR) on focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury(CIRI) in rats and its relationship with the store-operated calcium entry(SOCE) pathway regulated by stromal intera-ction molecule(STIM) and calcium release-activated calcium modulator(Orai).Rats were randomly assigned into the sham group, model(middle cerebral artery occlusion, MCAO) group, TFR(60 mg·kg~(-1)) group, TFR(60 mg·kg~(-1))+SOCE pathway inhibitor 2-aminoethoxydiphenyl borate(2-APB, 2.5 mg·kg~(-1)) group, and 2-APB(2.

Background: Total flavonoids of Rhododendron (TFR) is extracted from Rhododendron, a herbal medicine widely used in China. The main components are flavone compounds such as warfarin, rutin, quercetin, and hyperoside. We investigated the role of TRPV4 channel in the TFR induced endothelium-dependent hyperpolarizing factor- (EDHF-) mediated responses against ischemia/reperfusion injury (IR) in cerebral IR (CIR) rats.

Introduction: Nicorandil, a vasodilatory drug used to treat angina, was reported to protect against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in various animal models. However, its cardioprotective action following cardiac arrest is unknown. We examined the cardioprotective effects of nicorandil in a porcine model of cardiac arrest and resuscitation.

To investigate the protective effect of preconditioning with hyperoside ( Hyp) against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) in rats and the role of PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. MIRI was established by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery for 30 min followed by reperfusion for 120 min in rats. Male SD rats were randomly divided into five groups: sham group, model group (MIRI),Hyp preconditioning group(Hyp), Hyp preconditioning + LY294002 (a PI3K/Akt signaling pathway inhibitor) group (Hyp + LY), and LY294002 group (LY).

To investigate the effects and potential mechanisms of hyperoside (Hyp) on the vascular endothelium function in middle cerebral artery (MCA) ex vivo in rats. Isolated arterial segments from MCAs of rats were used for surveying vasomotoricity in a pressurized chamber. Transmembrane potential was recorded by using glass microelectrodes to evaluate hyperpolarization.

Background: Recent studies have shown that interleukin-3 receptor alpha (CD123) is highly expressed on leukemia stem cells of patients with acute myeloid leukemia, and is correlated with tumor load and poor prognosis. The expression of CD123 may also be high in patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). In this study, the expression and clinical significance of CD123 and granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) receptor (CD114) on the bone marrow cells of patients with MDS were investigated to explore the molecular marker of the malignant clone of MDS.
