Two novel lanthanide mercury materials, [Gd(IA)3(H3O)2Hg3Br6]n·2nCl (1) and [La(IA)3(H3O)2Hg3Br6]n·2nCl (2) (IA = isonicotinic anion), have been prepared under solvothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. They are isomorphic and characterized by a three-dimensional (3-D) framework structure. The lanthanide ions are bound by eight oxygen atoms to exhibit a square antiprismatic geometry.

Theoretically and experimentally, MXenes consisting of Mo and C have aroused much interest due to superconductivity in their films and even monolayer forms. Here, based on first-principles calculations, we systematically calculate the electronic structure, phonon dispersion, and electron-phonon coupling (EPC) of monolayer MoC (both T- and H-phases), MoC, and MoC. The results show that H-MoC ( = 2 or 3, = 1-3) always have lower total energies than their corresponding T phase and other configurations.

Deuterium permeation through vanadium membranes in a wide range of pressures and the temperature range ~250-550 °C was experimentally investigated. Measurements on the same material were carried out in three laboratories with different features for an extended characterization and for cross-check validation. In recent years, three-dimensional (3D) high-temperature superconductors at ultrahigh pressure have been reported, typical examples are the polyhydrides HS, LaH, YH, To find high-temperature two-dimensional (2D) superconductors at atmospheric pressure is another research hotspot. Here, we investigated the possible superconductivity in a hydrogenated monolayer phosphorus carbide based on first-principles calculations. The results reveal that monolayer PC transforms from a semiconductor to a metal after hydrogenation.

The synthesis and characterization of fluorinated carbon nanotubes have been carried out under an inert gas containing fluorine. All of the samples have been characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance ((13)C and (19)F ss-NMR) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The comparison of the effects of various experimental parameters on the structure of fluorinated materials allows the disclosure of the fluorination mechanism.
