Therefore, there is a pressing need for a vaccine capable of combating future variants. In this study, we designed new mRNA vaccines, BSCoV05 and BSCoV06, and generated point mutations in the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the original Wuhan strain to increase their broad-spectrum antiviral activity.

Current 5hmC analysis methods still present challenges, especially for clinical applications, such as having a risk of false-positive results and a lack of sufficient sensitivity. Herein, a 5hmC quantification method for fragment-specific DNA sequences with extreme specificity, high sensitivity, and clinical applicability was established using a quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR)-based workflow through the combination of enzymatic digestion and biological deamination strategy (EDD-5hmC assay).

Manual semen evaluation methods are subjective and time-consuming. In this study, a deep learning algorithmic framework was designed to enable non-invasive multidimensional morphological analysis of live sperm in motion, improve current clinical sperm morphology testing methods, and significantly contribute to the advancement of assisted reproductive technologies. We improved the FairMOT tracking algorithm by incorporating the distance and angle of the same sperm head movement in adjacent frames, as well as the head target detection frame IOU value, into the cost function of the Hungarian matching algorithm.

Key modifications, such as N6-methyladenosine (mA) and 5-methylcytosine (mC), are implicated in various cellular processes. These modifications are regulated by proteins that write, erase, and read RNA and modulate RNA stability, splicing, translation, and degradation.

In this study, complete genome methylation sequencing (BS-Seq) technology was used to analyze the genome-wide methylation of patients with cervical cancer before and after radiotherapy.
Methods: Three pairs of cervical squamous cell carcinoma samples were collected from patients before and after radiotherapy in July 2020.

While extensively studied in model plants, the gene family in remains unexplored, despite the availability of its sequenced genome. In this study, we employed bioinformatics approaches to identify 21 genes within the genome, revealing their uneven distribution across chromosomes.

However, the mechanisms for how gut microbiota triggers cellular senescence and the consequent impact on human aging remain enigmatic. Here we show that phenylacetylglutamine (PAGln), a metabolite linked to gut microbiota, drives host cellular senescence.

Among these, gut-derived serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT), synthesized from tryptophan metabolism, has been identified as a key mediator. However, it remains unclear whether specific microbial factors regulate tryptophan metabolism to influence 5-HT production and anxiety regulation.

Methods: We harnessed data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 to evaluate the prevalence, incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) associated with MNBAC among individuals aged 65 years and older across 204 countries and territories between 1990 and 2021. The socio-demographic Index (SDI) served as a metric to examine the influence of socioeconomic development on the burden of MNBAC.

Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in organ aging and related diseases, yet the endogenous regulators involved remain largely unknown. This work highlights the importance of metabolic homeostasis in protecting against oxidative stress in the large intestine. By developing a low-input and user-friendly pipeline for the simultaneous profiling of five distinct cysteine (Cys) states, including free SH, total Cys oxidation (Sto), sulfenic acid (SOH), S-nitrosylation (SNO), and S-glutathionylation (SSG), we shed light on Cys redox modification stoichiometries and signaling with regional resolution in the aging gut of monkeys.

In this study, we conducted a comprehensive proteomic analysis across various organs in rodent and nonhuman primate models to investigate CHIKV's impact on organs beyond joints and muscles and to identify key host factors involved in its pathogenesis. Our findings reveal significant species-specific similarities and differences in immune responses and metabolic regulation, with proteins like Interferon-Stimulated Gene 15 (ISG15) and Retinoic Acid-Inducible Gene I (RIG-I) playing crucial roles in the anti-CHIKV defense.
