IPO-38 is identified as a novel serum biomarker of gastric cancer based on clinical proteomics technology.

Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies in China. So far, there are few reliable serum biomarkers for diagnosis. The available biomarkers of CEA, CA19-9 and CA72-4 are not sufficiently sensitive and specific for gastric cancer.

Inhibition of apoptosis facilitates necrosis induced by cisplatin in gastric cancer cells.

Although cisplatin has been shown to induce both apoptosis and necrosis in cancer cells, the potential interconnections between these modes of cell death induced by the drug remain unknown. We studied this phenomenon in gastric cancer cell lines and identified one cell line (SGC-7901) that underwent apoptosis, and another cell line (BGC-823) that primarily underwent nonapoptotic cell death, in response to cisplatin. Apoptosis in cisplatin-treated SGC-7901 cells seemed to be caspase dependent and was mediated, at least in part, by the BH3-only protein, Noxa.

Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the influencing factors of sensory disturbance of lower lip after sagittal split ramus osteotomy(SSRO).

Methods: We studied 19 consecutive patients that underwent a total of 37 SSROs from September 2004 to September 2005. The follow-up period was 24 weeks.

Anti-inflammatory effect of Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate in a rat model of ulcerative colitis.

Aim: To explore the anti-inflammatory mechanism of Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate in a rat model of ulcerative colitis induced by acetic acid.

Methods: Spragur-Dawley female rats were divided into four groups: Diammonium Glycyrrhizinate group, dexamethasone group, acetic acid control and normal control group. Colonic inflammation was evaluated by disease activity index, gross morphologic damage, histological injury and colonic myeloperoxidase activity.

Effects of the Chinese drugs for activating blood circulation on plasma TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1alpha contents in rabbits with glucocorticoid-induced femoral head necrosis.

In the femoral head necrosis model rabbit induced by endotoxin combined with methylprenisolone, the dynamical changes of plasma TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1alpha contents were observed. As a result, microscopic examination showed that in the model group, bone trabeculae became fine, empty bone lacunae increased, and osteoblasts in number decreased; the ratio of TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1alpha was out of balance, and these changes worsened gradually with the lapse of time; Compound Sheng Mai Cheng Gu Capsules could reverse femoral head necrosis, protect the vascular endothelial cells, recover the balance of TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1alpha. It is concluded that the hormone-induced femoral head necrosis is closely related with blood stasis, and that the Chinese drugs for activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis can prevent the femoral head from development of necrosis.

Liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry for the determination of fluoxetine and its main active metabolite norfluoxetine in human plasma with deuterated fluoxetine as internal standard.

Fluoxetine (F) and its N-demehylated metabolite norfluoxetine (NF) are selective inhibitors of serotonin reuptake in humans. A new sensitive rapid method for the simultaneous determination of F and NF in plasma was established and validated, and was further applied to assess the bioequivalence of two oral formulations of F in 22 healthy Chinese male volunteers who received a single oral dose of each formulation (containing 20 mg of fluoxetine hydrochloride). The new method involves using liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) in multiple reaction monitoring mode with deuterated fluoxetine (DF) as internal standard.
