Due to the outbreak of global public health emergency, antibacterial fabrics such as face masks are in great demand. However, common antibacterial fabrics cannot kill bacteria in minutes and they are easy to be contaminated and lost biological activity. In this work, omnipotent antibacterial cotton fabrics with superhydrophobic and photothermal properties are developed by the combination of dopamine with copper sulfide (CuS) and silver nanoparticles on cotton fabrics, and post-modification with PDMS.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTyrosyl-DNA phosphodiesterase 1 (TDP1) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in repairing DNA lesions caused by the entrapment of DNA topoisomerase IB (TOP1)-DNA break-associated crosslinks. TDP1 inhibitors exhibit synergistic effects with TOP1 inhibitors in cancer cells, effectively overcoming resistance to TOP1 inhibitors. Therefore, this approach presents a promising strategy for reversing tumor resistance to TOP1 inhibitors.

In recent years, extensive research efforts have been initiated to explore the therapeutic potential of NSC transplantation for CNS injuries, yielding significant advancements. Nevertheless, owing to the formation of adverse microenvironment at post-injury leading to suboptimal survival, differentiation, and integration within the host neural network of transplanted NSCs, NSC-based transplantation therapies often fall short of achieving optimal therapeutic outcomes.

However, the widely used commercial membranes suffer from low permeability, narrow structural tunability, and limited chemical resistance. Here, we report a strategy for fabricating covalent organic framework (COF) membranes with solvent-responsive structural flexibility.

In this study, ellipsoidality is defined as a 3D shape index for evaluating particle roundness, and an explicit calculation method is applied. The dependences of 3D shape characteristics (aspect ratios, sphericity, and ellipsoidal degree) on particle size (ranges from 0.

The aim of this paper was to introduce a method of CBD classification based on hyperspectral imaging combined with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). To process hyperspectral data, the Improved Firefly Band Selection Algorithm was constructed with the 1-D CNN CBD classification model as the objective function, achieving a reduction in the dimensionality of hyperspectral data.

To address this issue, an innovative approach is developed that combines a wearable temperature sensor with a sophisticated volatilomics technique, aimed at facilitating the rapid and convenient prediction of potential physical discomfort related to latrogenic botulism. The investigation identifies five volatile organic compounds (VOCs)-acetone, styrene, ethanol, 2-pentanone, and n-butano-as promising markers indicative of BoNT poisoning.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the global effect of GA on DNA methylation in the cell-free DNA (cfDNA) of surgical lung-nodule patients.
Methods: This large retrospective cohort study enrolled 1,006 surgical lung nodule patients (529 pre-anesthesia, and 477 post-anesthesia).
Human plasma proteomic and glycoproteomic analyses have emerged as an alternate avenue to identify disease biomarkers and therapeutic approaches. However, the vast number of high-abundance proteins in plasma can cause mass spectrometry (MS) suppression, which makes it challenging to detect low-abundance proteins (LAP). Currently, immunoaffinity-based depletion methods and strategies involving nanomaterial protein coronas have been developed to remove high-abundance proteins (HAP) and enhance the depth of plasma protein identification.

Mn coordinated by orthophosphate (Pi), metabolites, or peptides acts as a superoxide dismutase (SOD), and these Mn antioxidant complexes are universally accumulated in extremely radiation-resistant cell types across the tree of life. This behavior prompted design of decapeptide DP1 (DEHGTAVMLK) as a Mn ligand, and development of a highly potent Mn-antioxidant (MDP) containing [Pi] = 25 mM, and [DP1] = 3 mM, the ratio found in the radioresistant bacterium , with [Mn] = 1 mM. MDP is an exceptional antioxidant, both in vitro and in vivo, and has reinvigorated the development of radiation-inactivated whole-cell vaccines.

This study aimed to project the burden of CVD from 2020 to 2030 using a nationwide cohort and to simulate the potential impact of various control measures on morbidity and mortality.
Methods: An agent-based model was employed to simulate annual CVD incidence and mortality from 2021 to 2030.
Gut microbiota/metabolites not only participate in the food and energy metabolism but also contribute to the host immune response and homeostasis. The alternation of gut microbiota/metabolites has been widely related to intestinal and extra-intestinal disorders such as intestinal bowel diseases (IBDs). Bactericidal substances from gut epithelial cells can regulate the composition of gut microbiota.

Methods: Methimazole-induced mice was used to construct hypothyroidism model and explore the polarization of microglia. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated BV2 cells were used to investigate the effecting factors on microglia M1 polarization.
Objective: To identify risk factors contributing to the development of postpartum hypothyroidism in women newly diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) during the first trimester of pregnancy (T1). Additionally, this study aimed to explore the impact of thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) titers trajectories throughout pregnancy and postpartum.
Methods: Thyroid hormone levels and thyroid autoantibody titers were collected from T1 to the 12 month postpartum.
Although non-immunoglobin scaffold binders with high affinity and broad spectrum for albumin are attractive for lab-scale albumin purification, affinity chromatography based on these binders has not been developed. Here, the albumin-binding capabilities of representative binders, including protein G-derived albumin binding domain (ABD), albumin binding nanofitins (ABNF), and human serum albumin affimer 31 (HSA31) were predicted by interaction structure analysis and verified by experimental assays. Interaction structure prediction suggested that ABD possessed great potential to bind human (HSA), rhesus monkey (RhSA), mouse (MSA), and rat serum albumin (RSA), whereas ABNF might only bind HSA and bovine serum albumin (BSA), and HSA31 might not bind any of the tested albumins.
