External ventricular drainage (EVD) is the routine intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) treatment. Neurological deterioration and symptomatic hydrocephalus are often the default indications for EVD insertion. However, the outcome of preventive EVD is unclear in patients with mild IVH.

Cement-treated sand reinforced with geogrids (CTSGs) has higher bending resistance and toughness than cement-treated sands (CTSs). To explore the reinforcement mechanism of geogrids with different stiffness and layers on CTSGs, three-point bending tests and numerical tests based on DEM are carried out on CTS specimens and CTSG specimens considering different reinforcement conditions. The results show that the geogrids and cement-treated sands have good cooperative working performance.

Accurate bearing fault diagnosis is of great significance of the safety and reliability of rotary mechanical system. In practice, the sample proportion between faulty data and healthy data in rotating mechanical system is imbalanced. Furthermore, there are commonalities between the bearing fault detection, classification, and identification tasks.

Its high protein content makes it a preferred ingredient in feed. Given the high prevalence of mycotoxins in maize globally, they pose a significant challenge to use of MGM for feed: wet milling could concentrate certain mycotoxins in gluten components, and mycotoxin consumption affects animal health and can contaminate animal-source foods.

Methods: The materials evaluated included a CAD-CAM ceramic, a polymer-infiltrated ceramic, and three filler-based CAD-CAM composites. The CAD-CAM blocks were sectioned, embedded in self-cured resin, finished with abrasive papers and ultrasonically cleaned.
Bacterial biofilm is a three-dimensional matrix composed of a large number of living bacterial individuals. The strong bio-interaction between the bacteria and its self-secreted matrix environment strengthens the mechanical integrity of the biofilm and the sustainable resistance of bacteria to antibiotics. As a soft surface, the biofilm is expected to present different dynamical wetting behavior in response to shear stress, which is, however, less known.

Background: This mixed-methods study explores older people's intention of institutional care and its contributing contextual factors, and the meaning given to their intention by older adults in the transitioning Chinese society.
Methods: Guided by the extended Anderson model and frameworks of the ecological theory of aging, survey data collected from 1937 Chinese older adults were used. Transcripts from six focus group interviews were analyzed to incorporate the voices of the participants.
With the development of science and technology, human-machine interaction has brought great benefits to the society. Here, we design a voice and gesture signal translator (VGST), which can translate natural actions into electrical signals and realize efficient communication in human-machine interface. By spraying silk protein on the copper of the device, the VGST can achieve improved output and a wide frequency response of 20-2000 Hz with a high sensitivity of 167 mV/dB, and the resolution of frequency detection can reach 0.

Here, we integrated the perovskite quantum dot film together with 3D reconfigurable photonic crystals (PCs) to form quantum dot/photonic crystal heterostructures and investigated their interactions at their interfaces. The photonic bandgaps of the presented 3DPCs can be dynamically tuned by heating and applying external mechanical forces, and they can be stably fixed in the intermediate states.

An emerging lncRNA, LINC01480, was found to be associated with the immune microenvironment of some cancers, but its specific function remains unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the role of LINC01480 in HQ-induced apoptosis.

To investigate the spatial distribution of bacteria in quiescent fluids and their rheotactic behavior in shear flows under buoyancy, we adjust the buoyant force to regulate bacterial swimming in a microfluidic channel. It is found that swimming bacteria of exhibit an obvious vertical separation when exposed to a medium with high density and gradually gather close to the up wall within minutes.

We hypothesised that treatment-resistant depression (TRD), an indicator of non-responsive depression with long-term dysregulated inflammation, could be an independent risk factor for subsequent autoimmune diseases. We performed a cohort study and a nested case-control study to examine the association between TRD and risk of autoimmune diseases, and to explore potential sex-specific difference.

The omentum features an attractive extrahepatic alternative site for clinical islet transplantation. We explore an approach in which allogeneic islets are transplanted onto the omentum, which is bioengineered with a plasma-thrombin biodegradable matrix in three diabetic non-human primates (NHPs).

Since only ten serotypes were tested in our previous study, the conclusions above were yet to be evaluated in a larger scale test. In the current study we evaluated this workflow with 69 serotypes and also explored the feasibility of using multiplex-nanopore-sequencing based WGS for antimicrobial resistance gene (AMR) and virulence gene detection.

Therefore, a variety of machine learning-based models have been developed to predict these interactions. In this study, a model called auxiliary multi-task graph isomorphism network with uncertainty weighting (AMGU) was developed to predict the inhibitory activities of small molecules against 204 different kinases based on the multi-task Graph Isomorphism Network (MT-GIN) with the auxiliary learning and uncertainty weighting strategy.

Here, we have for the first time demonstrated that Na-type ZSM-5 zeolites are ultrawide-direct-band-gap semiconductors based on optical spectroscopy, variable-temperature current-voltage characteristics, and photoelectric effect as well as electronic structure theoretical calculations and further unraveled the band-like charge transport mechanism in electrically conductive zeolites. The increase in charge-compensating Na cations in Na-ZSM-5 decreases the band gap and affects its density of states, shifting the Fermi level close to the conduction band.

Abstract: Multiplex networks frame the heterogeneous nature of real systems, where the multiple roles of nodes, both functionally and structurally, are well represented. We identify these vital nodes in a multiplex network so that we can control a pandemic outbreak like COVID-19, eliminate damage from a network attack, maintain traffic, and so on. Vital node identification has attracted scientists in various fields for decades.
