Offshore wind farms (OWFs) play a crucial role in producing renewable energy in modern electrical power systems. However, to ensure that these facilities operate smoothly, they require robust control systems. As a result, this paper employed the newly developed Walrus Optimization algorithm (WaOA) to optimize the design parameters of fractional-order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controllers in the power electronic interface circuits of the studied wind energy conversion system (WECS).

Photovoltaic (PV) systems are becoming essential to our energy landscape as renewable energy sources become more widely integrated into power networks. Preserving grid stability, especially during voltage sags, is one of the significant difficulties confronting the implementation of these technologies. This attribute is referred to as low-voltage ride-through (LVRT).

This article presents an optimum design of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy logic controllers (TS-FLCs) to enhance capability of fault ride-through (FRT) and the maximal power point tracking (MPPT) of the grid-tied wind farms. To obtain the optimum TS-FLCs, salp-swarm-algorithm (SSA) applied to minimize the sum of integral squared-error (ISE) function, where the variables of the cost function are the factors of Gaussian membership functions and the control rules of eight TS-FLCs. After that, the optimized TS-FLCs are applied to control the grid-tied variable-speed wind generator system, which is simulated using PSCAD/EMTDC.

This paper proposes a novel approach for testing dynamics and control aspects of a large scale photovoltaic (PV) system in real time along with resolving design hindrances of controller parameters using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). In general, the harmonic profile of a fast controller has wide distribution due to the large bandwidth of the controller. The major contribution of this paper is that the proposed control strategy gives an improved voltage harmonic profile and distribute it more around the switching frequency along with fast transient response; filter design, thus, becomes easier.
