Introduction: Radial tears of the lateral meniscus are often located in the junction of the middle and posterior third or posterior tibial attachment. However, we observed that a few cases of radial tears occurred in the anterior third of the lateral meniscus, and in many cases, they were accompanied by horizontal tears.

Hypothesis: Radial tears are more frequently accompanied by horizontal tears in the anterior third of the lateral meniscus than in other regions.

Purpose: (1) To investigate whether patients with bone-on-bone (BOB) medial OA (Ahlback grade 2) had comparable clinical improvement to those with non-BOB arthritis with remaining joint space (Ahlback grades 0/1) after medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOWHTO); (2) to determine whether the radiological results differ between these 2 groups from 1 month postoperatively to last follow-up ≥2 years later.

Complex comminuted fractures involving the distal tibia, ankle joint, and talus are often accompanied by bone loss and are highly prone to complications such as soft tissue infection, fixation failure, and posttraumatic arthrosis, with joint reconstruction being difficult in cases with severe joint destruction or bone loss. In this case, bone transport and fusion procedures were performed to treat a patient with an open fracture involving total talar dislocation, talar bone loss, and distal tibial bone loss. Just as in this case, where the surrounding soft tissues remain healthy, limb salvage via segmental bone transport may be a reasonable option in fractures with massive bone loss that include joints.

We previously reported that KHG21834, a benzothiazole derivative, attenuates the beta-amyloid (Abeta)-induced degeneration of both cortical and mesencephalic neurons in vitro. Central nervous system inflammation mediated by activated microglia is a key event in the development of neurodegenerative disease. In this study, we show that KHG21834 suppresses inflammation-mediated cytokine upregulation.
