Gene regulatory sequences in nuclear transgenes that target proteins to plastids, as well as in transgenes introduced into plastid genomes, can be assessed or optimized through the use of fluorescent protein reporters. Fluorescent labeling of plastids simultaneously with other subcellular locations reveals dynamic interactions and mutant phenotypes.

Methods: In 724 children from the UK Southampton Women's Survey mother--offspring cohort, offspring length/height and abdominal circumference measurements were collected at 10 ages between 11 weeks' gestation and age 8--9 years. Using residual growth modelling and linear regression, we examined the independent associations between growth and detailed vascular measures made at 8--9 years.

Many epidemiological studies have linked low birthweight to an increased risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in later life, with epigenetic proceseses suggested as an underlying mechanism. Here, we sought to identify neonatal methylation changes associated with birthweight, at the individual CpG and genomic regional level, and whether the birthweight-associated methylation signatures were associated with specific maternal factors. View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: The approval of a disease-modifying Alzheimer's disease (AD) treatment could provide relief to US state budgets that were hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, as mostly Medicare would cover treatment cost, whereas Medicaid would see savings from reduced nursing home use.
Methods: We project savings from 2021 to 2040 with a simulation model from the perspective of state Medicaid programs.
Results: Assuming a 40% and 22% relative reduction of disease progression rates with treatment, Medicaid would avoid payments of $186.
Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is defined as the failure of the fetus to meet its growth potential due to a pathological factor, most commonly placental dysfunction. Worldwide, FGR is a leading cause of stillbirth, neonatal mortality, and short- and long-term morbidity. Ongoing advances in clinical care, especially in definitions, diagnosis, and management of FGR, require efforts to effectively translate these changes to the wide range of obstetric care providers.
