Aims: Our study aimed to assess whether a single pill concept (SPC) is superior to a multi pill concept (MPC) in reducing cardiovascular (CV) events, all-cause death, and costs in CV patients.
Method And Results: Anonymized medical claims data covering 2012-2018, including patients with hypertension, dyslipidemia, and CV diseases who started a drug therapy either as SPC or identical MPC were analyzed after 1:1-Propensity Score Matching (PSM). Hospitalizations with predefined CV events, all-cause mortality, and costs were studied in 25,311 patients with SPC and 25,311 patients with MPC using incidence rate ratios (IRRs) and non-parametric tests for continuous variables.
This systematic review aims to analyze the effects of acute and chronic exercise on appetite and appetite regulation in patients with abnormal glycemic control. PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched for eligible studies. The included studies had to report assessments of appetite (primary outcome).

Therefore, this study investigated the mid -to long-term consequences of myocardial involvement after a COVID-19 infection in elite athletes.
Materials And Methods: This study included 27 athletes at the German Olympic Centre North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW)/Rhineland with a confirmed previous COVID-19 infection between January 2020 and October 2021.
Background: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) was described to affect red blood cells (RBC) in both severe and mild disease courses. The aim of this study was to investigate whether hematological and hemorheological changes that were previously described for COVID-19 patients after the acute infection state are still prominent after another 4 months to assess potential long-term effects.
Methods: Hematological and RBC rheological parameters, including deformability and aggregation, were measured 41 days after infection in COVID-19 patients and non-COVID control (T0) and 4 months later in COVID-19 patients (T1).
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, dementia, depression and cancers, are on the rise worldwide and are often associated with a lack of physical activity (PA). Globally, the levels of PA among individuals are below WHO recommendations. A lack of PA can increase morbidity and mortality, worsen the quality of life and increase the economic burden on individuals and society.

Aim: To evaluate the effects of a multimodal intervention (including exercise training, psychosocial interventions, nutrition coaching, smoking cessation program, medical care) on the health and long-term cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality risk of company employees with pre-diabetes or diabetes mellitus (DM) at high CVD risk.
Methods: In the PreFord study, German company employees (n=4196) participated in a free-of-charge CVD mortality risk screening at their workplace. Based on their European Society of Cardiology - Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation score (ESC-SCORE), they were subdivided into three risk groups.
While obesity impairs health-related quality of life (HRQOL), lifestyle interventions targeting weight reduction have been effective in improving HRQOL. Therefore, we hypothesised that a meal replacement-based lifestyle intervention, which has been shown to successfully reduce weight, would also improve HRQOL more effectively than a lifestyle intervention alone. Beneficial effects of (remote) ischemia preconditioning ((r)IPC), short episodes of blood occlusion and reperfusion, are well-characterized, but there is no consensus regarding the effectiveness of (r)IPC on exercise performance. View Article and Find Full Text PDFSARS-CoV-2 infection has emerged as not only a pulmonary but also potentially multi-organ disease, which may cause long-term structural damage of different organ systems including the lung, heart, vasculature, brain, liver, kidney, or intestine. As a result, the current SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 pandemic will eventually yield substantially increased numbers of chronically diseased patients worldwide, particularly suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, post-myocarditis, chronic heart failure, or chronic kidney disease. Exercise recommendations for rehabilitation are complex in these patients and should follow current guidelines including standards for pre-exercise medical examinations and individually tailored exercise prescription.
