The aims of this study were to (i) evaluate the bone alterations following maxillary molar extraction and (ii) identify the factors associated with bone alterations using a tomographic analysis. Cone Beam Computer Tomographies (CBCTs) of 17 subjects with 25 maxillary molars were analyzed, before and, in average, 12 months following extraction. Purpose: To test whether or not digital full-arch implant impressions with two different intra-oral scanners (CEREC Omnicam and True Definition) have the same accuracy as conventional ones. The academic program for the Harvard School of Dental Medicine's Advanced Graduate Program in Oral Implantology is based on scientific evidence applied to educational quality, translational research, patient care, and service. The objective of the program is to enable highly motivated individuals with proven scholarship and excellence in patient care to achieve academic leadership in the clinical and scientific fields of implant dentistry and tissue regeneration. A detailed curriculum describing the academic program, as well as a business plan (which included a management plan describing the organizational structure, financial implications, and market forces) and implementation and communication plans, were developed before moving forward.

Early implant placement is one treatment option for implant therapy following single-tooth extraction in the anterior maxilla. The surgical technique presented here is characterized by tooth extraction without flap elevation, a 4- to 8-week soft tissue healing period, implant placement in a correct three-dimensional position, simultaneous contour augmentation on the facial aspect with guided bone regeneration using a bioabsorbable collagen membrane combined with autogenous bone chips and a low-substitution bone filler, and tension-free primary wound closure. The surgical step-by-step procedure is presented with a case report.

Objective: The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate one-stage dental implants clinically and radiographically after 10 years in function.

Material And Methods: Twenty-five patients with a total of 68 implants [46 hollow screws (HS) and 22 hollow cylinders (HC)] who previously participated in 5-year prospective clinical study returned for a 10-year follow-up. For each patient, informed consent was obtained, medical and dental history was reviewed and soft and hard tissue conditions were evaluated using the modified plaque index, modified sulcus bleeding index, probing depth, suppuration, attachment level, distance from the implant crown margin to the coronal border of the peri-implant mucosa keratinized mucosa and periapical radiographs to calculate crestal bone-level changes.

The existence and characterization of a bond between the Zn atoms in the recently synthesized complex [Zn(2)(eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))(2)], as well as between Zn and ligand C atoms is firmly based on neutron diffraction and low-temperature X-ray synchrotron diffraction experiments. The multipolar analysis of the experimental electron density and its topological analysis by means of the 'Atoms in Molecules' (AIM) approach reveals details of the Zn-Zn bond, such as its open-shell intermediate character (the results are consistent with a typical metal-metal single bond), as well as many other topological properties of the compound. Experimental results are also compared with theoretical ab initio calculations of the DFT (density functional theory) and MP2 (Møller-Plesset perturbation theory) electron densities, giving a coherent view of the bonding in the complex.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the percentage of bone-to-implant contact following guided bone regeneration using expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (e-PTFE) membranes and various bone fillers in a beagle dog model. A staged approach was used for initial bone regeneration of surgically created defects and subsequent implant placement in newly regenerated ridges. Three months after bilateral extraction of the mandibular premolars and first molars, rectangular, distal-extension defects that included the entire width of the ridge buccolingually were surgically created in the alveolar processes.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the new bone formation and biodegradability of various bone fillers placed underneath a nonresorbable membrane (expanded polytetrafluoroethylene [e-PTFE]) in standardized defects in a beagle dog model.
