Moderate cold stimulation regulates the thymus's growth and function and facilitates cold acclimatization in broilers. However, the underlying mechanism remains unknown. To explore the possible mechanism of the thymus in cold-acclimated broilers against cold stress, 240 one-day-old Arbor Acres (AA) broilers were assigned to 2 groups randomly.

This study expects to confirm the existence of emotional transmission in pigs from multiple perspectives and to provide theoretical references for improving animal welfare in livestock farming. A group that could directly observe (DO) and a group that could not directly observe (NO) were created based on whether or not their peers observed the treatment process, as the treated pig (TP) was treated with electrical shock and the companion pig (CP) either witnessed the treatment inflicted upon TP or not, and a third group was a control group, in which neither pig was stimulated. The behavioral responses of both the TPs and CPs were recorded to evaluate the emotional reaction.

However, the state-of-the-art performance of detecting such important objects (esp. small objects) is far from satisfying the demand of practical systems.

Methods: Databases PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched and retrieved appropriate journal articles on the association between phenols exposure and earlier puberty in children published before February 14, 2020. Stata software version 12.
In order to investigate the effect of gentle handling on the behavior, performance, and meat quality of pigs from weaning to slaughter, 144 6-week-old weaned hybrid Min piglets (a native breed) were selected and divided into a handling group (HG: 9 pens × 8 pigs) and a control group (CG: 9 pens × 8 pigs). After 6 weeks of handling, we observed and then evaluated the pigs' responses to a handler with behavioral scores. Moreover, we measured heart rate and production performance.

However, this trick comes with a significant decline in accuracy. In this paper, dual-resolution dual-path Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), named DualNets, are proposed to bump up the accuracy of those detection applications.

Intensive animal farming has been shown to lead to chronic stress resulting in depression; however, comparing with humans we lack an effective clinical method to clinically inspect these psychological problems in animals. The goal of this study was to investigate the effect of age and housing conditions (confined crates vs.

Our results show that when leaf water potential ( ) is above -1.5 MPa, the stomatal limitation should be the main reason for a drop of photosynthesis.

Phthalates have been widely found in human living environment and have negative effects on human reproduction. This study aimed to explore the relationship between urinary phthalate metabolites and serum AMH level in the general male population.

Methods: Sows (Large White) that had experienced restricting for about 0.5 or 3 years and age-matched sows kept in a group housing system (loose sows) were compared.
