Purpose: This registry-based study aims to examine the variation in biopsy and resection indications for glioblastoma patients across Dutch hospitals and to identify patient- and hospital-related factors associated with the surgical treatment.

Methods: Data from all 7443 adults with first-time glioblastoma surgery at 12 hospitals were obtained from the prospective population-based Quality Registry Neurosurgery in the Netherlands between 2011 and 2021. Patients were stratified by either biopsy or resection.

Methods: We included the first hip (n = 416,333), knee (n = 314,569), or shoulder (n = 23,751) arthroplasty of each patient aged ≥ 40 years between 2007 and 2022 (hip/knee) or 2014 and 2022 (shoulder) from the Dutch Arthroplasty Register (LROI). Data on the size of the Dutch population were obtained from Statistics Netherlands.

A Prognostic Model to Predict Hearing Recovery in Patients With Idiopathic Sudden Onset Sensorineural Hearing Loss.

Importance: The prognosis of idiopathic sudden onset sensorineural hearing loss (iSSNHL) is uncertain, which creates challenges in clinical decision-making for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) physicians and adds to the burden of the condition experienced by patients.

Objective: To develop and internally validate a prognostic model for hearing recovery among patients with iSSNHL to support ENT surgeons in making informed and individualized treatment decisions.

Design, Settings, And Participants: This prognostic study and model used cohort data from the Sudden Onset Sensorineural Hearing Loss study, which included 812 patients (age ≥16 years) diagnosed with iSSNHL at 76 National Health Service ENT departments in the UK from December 2019 to May 2022.

Multicenter and inter-software evaluation of ablative margins after thermal ablation of colorectal liver metastases.

Purpose: To assess the association between minimal ablative margin (MAM) and local tumor progression (LTP) following CT-guided thermal ablation of colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) in a multicenter cohort and across two confirmation software.

Materials And Methods: This multicenter retrospective study included patients who underwent CT-guided radiofrequency or microwave ablation for CRLM between 2009 and 2021 in three institutions. Three-dimensional (3D) MAM was retrospectively assessed using dedicated ablation confirmation software by automatic non-rigid (Ablation-fit) or semi-automatic rigid co-registration (SAFIR) of intraprocedural pre- and post-ablation contrast-enhanced CT scans by two independent reader teams blinded to patient outcomes.

Background: Periprosthetic joint infections (PJIs) can lead to higher re-revision rates and even higher mortality rates that may be associated with the responsible microorganism. We evaluated microorganisms that cause early PJIs in primary total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA and TKA) and examined mortality as well as PJI re-revision rates after these PJIs, using a combined dataset from the Dutch Arthroplasty Register and the Dutch National Nosocomial Surveillance Network (PREZIES). These plates can be positioned in different locations on the clavicle, although no studies to date have elucidated optimal plate type and location of fixation. This systematic review compares the functional outcomes and complications in the management of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures using plate fixation by stratifying by both plate type and location.

Wide-field time-of-flight measurements of highly scattering media.

We present a setup that makes use of a time-resolved single-photon camera to determine the scattering parameters of media. The measurement is realized in a non-contact way, both for the illumination laser and the detection. By fitting the time-of-flight acquired distributions at different spatial positions with the diffusion equation, we retrieve the reduced scattering coefficients of a highly diffusive isotropic reference media for wavelengths in the range from 540 to 840 nm.
