Purpose: There is a dearth of information about patients with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or intellectual disability (ID) who seek emergency psychiatric care. Given this backdrop, this retrospective study aims to explore clinical, demographic, and disposition-related information about this patient population over a 10-year period.

Methods: This study includes individuals with ASD or ID (n = 1461) and had presented to a psychiatric emergency department between 2012 and 2021.

Attachment-based interventions have been extensively studied in neurotypical patient populations. In neurodivergent patient populations, however, emphasis on and current research into attachment-based interventions are centered on early childhood. Describe naturalistic clinical course over 14 weeks in a mixed adolescent and a young-adult patient group diagnosed with developmental delays and catatonia, when the frequency of maintenance electroconvulsive therapy (M-ECT) was reduced secondary to 2020 COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Participants were diagnosed with catatonia, and were receiving care in a specialized clinic. They ( = 9), = 5, and = 4, ranged in age from 16 to 21 years; ECT frequency was reduced at end of March 2020 due to institutional restrictions.
