Perineal Laceration and Episiotomy Repair Using a Beef Tongue Model.

Introduction: Declining rates of operative vaginal deliveries and routine episiotomy in obstetric practice, along with rising cesarean section rates, have decreased OB/GYN resident experience with episiotomy repair and obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS). Simulation models are valuable educational tools in procedural training. Several models have been reported, each with its own limitations and benefits.

Evaluation of the psychometric properties of self-reported measures of alcohol consumption: a COSMIN systematic review.

Purpose: To review studies about the reliability and validity of self-reported alcohol consumption measures among adults, an area which needs updating to reflect current research.

Methods: Databases (PUBMED (1966-present), MEDLINE (1946-present), EMBASE (1947-present), Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) (1937-present), PsycINFO (1887-present) and Social Science Citation Index (1976-present)) were searched systematically for studies from inception to 11th August 2017. Pairs of independent reviewers screened study titles, abstracts and full texts with high agreement and a third author resolved disagreements.

Communication Bridge: A pilot feasibility study of Internet-based speech-language therapy for individuals with progressive aphasia.

Introduction: Individuals with aphasia symptoms due to neurodegenerative dementia are under-referred for speech-language therapy (SLT) services. We sought to determine the feasibility of utilizing telepractice, via Internet video conferencing, to connect an individual with progressive aphasia due to dementia to a speech-language pathologist for treatment.

Methods: Participants received an Initial Evaluation, 8 person-centered Internet-based SLT sessions and two Post-Therapy Evaluations.
