Poliovirus receptor-related 2 (PVRL2, also known as nectin-2 or CD112) is believed to act as an immune checkpoint protein in cancer; however, most insight into its role is inferred from studies on its known receptor, poliovirus receptor (PVR)-related immunoglobulin domain protein (PVRIG, also known as CD112R). Here, we study PVRL2 itself. PVRL2 levels were found to be high in tumor cells and tumor-derived exosomes.

Whereas evidence from humans, rodents, and insects suggests that dietary sucrose modifies sweet taste sensation, understanding of peripheral nerve or taste bud alterations is sparse. To address this, male rats were given access to 30% liquid sucrose for 4 weeks (sucrose rats).

Characterization of Aminobenzylphenols as Protein Disulfide Isomerase Inhibitors in Glioblastoma Cell Lines.

Disulfide bond formation is a critical post-translational modification of newly synthesized polypeptides in the oxidizing environment of the endoplasmic reticulum and is mediated by protein disulfide isomerase (PDIA1). In this study, we report a series of α-aminobenzylphenol analogues as potent PDI inhibitors. The lead compound, , is a covalent nanomolar inhibitor of PDI, and the combination of analogues with glutathione synthesis inhibitor buthionine sulfoximine (BSO) leads to synergistic cell growth inhibition.
