Background: Prenatal depression is a potentially important fetal exposure as it may alter fetal development and have lasting effects.
Methods: We examined all live births from 2001 to 2012 in British Columbia with follow-up data on the Early Development Instrument (EDI) in Kindergarten. The odds of developmental vulnerability on EDI domains among those with and without depression during pregnancy were estimated.
With evidence that salpingectomy is effective in preventing high grade serous carcinoma, it is time to consider offering this procedure to people at higher-than-average lifetime risk for ovarian cancer, despite not having a pathogenic genetic variant that increases risk for ovarian cancer. This targeted approach has potential to be effective at reducing ovarian cancer incidence, and unlike opportunistic salpingectomy is focused on people with an increased lifetime risk of ovarian cancer. However, the acceptability of this approach within the population of potential patients remains unknown.

This population-based study used health data for all of Ontario, Canada to evaluate whether having a mother with schizophrenia was associated with increased risk of asthma exacerbations.
Study Design: The study cohort included 385,989 children diagnosed with asthma from age 2 years onward, followed from the time of their asthma diagnosis up to a maximum of age 19 years.
BACKGROUNDDespite an overall poor prognosis, about 15% of patients with advanced-stage tubo-ovarian high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC) survive 10 or more years after standard treatment.METHODSWe evaluated the tumor microenvironment of this exceptional, understudied group using a large international cohort enriched for long-term survivors (LTS; 10+ years; n = 374) compared with mid-term (MTS; 5-7.99 years; n = 433) and short-term survivors (STS; 2-4.

Methods: Sucralfate was used as a drug model. The Quality Target Product Profile was established early during preformulation.
Background: Tea and coffee are the most frequently consumed beverages in the world. Green tea in particular contains compounds with potential anti-cancer effects, but its association with survival after ovarian cancer is uncertain.
Methods: We investigated the associations between tea and coffee consumption before diagnosis and survival using data from 10 studies in the Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium.
Objectives: There is an active debate regarding whether metformin use improves survival in people with ovarian cancer. We examined this issue using methods designed to avoid immortal time bias-as bias that occurs when participants in a study cannot experience the outcome for a certain portion of the study time.
Methods: We used time-dependent analyses to study the association between metformin use for all 4,951 patients diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997 through 2018 in the province of British Columbia, Canada.
Over the last two decades, patient engagement in cancer research has evolved significantly, especially in addressing the unique challenges faced by adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer populations. This paper introduces a framework for meaningful engagement with AYA cancer patient research partners, drawing insights from the "FUTURE" Study, a qualitative study that utilizes focus groups to explore the impact of cancer diagnosis and treatment on the sexual and reproductive health of AYA cancer patients in Canada. The framework's development integrates insights from prior works and addresses challenges with patient engagement in research specific to AYA cancer populations.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was completed of persons undergoing surgical management for pelvic pain between December 2013 and July 2016 at an interdisciplinary tertiary referral centre for pelvic pain and endometriosis. We compared the change in EHP-30 scores for the following scenarios: (1) type of surgery (conservative surgery vs.
Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is a heterogeneous group of malignancies, including high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC). HGSC is often diagnosed at advanced stages and is linked to TP53 variants. While variants elevate risk, most HGSC cases occur in individuals without known genetic variants, necessitating prevention strategies for people without known high-risk genetic variants.

Design: A population-based, retrospective cohort study.
Setting: British Columbia, Canada.
Objective: Endometriosis patients have a high rate of co-occurring anxiety and depression. There is currently no literature investigating how this may affect endometriosis treatment and outcomes. This study examines the prevalence of depression and anxiety in a pathologically confirmed population-based endometriosis cohort and examines how endometriosis treatments and outcomes differ by the presence of co-occurring depression and/or anxiety.

Objectives: Opportunistic salpingectomy (OS) is the removal of fallopian tubes during another pelvic surgery for the purpose of ovarian cancer prevention. Herein, we describe the rates of OS at the time of hysterectomy and tubal sterilization between 2017 and 2020.
Methods: This study uses the Canadian Institute of Health Information's Discharge Abstract Database and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System for all Canadian provinces and territories except for Quebec between the fiscal years 2017 and 2020.
Background: Depression and anxiety are highly prevalent within the perinatal period and have been associated with myriad adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes. In this study, we sought to investigate whether population-based data can be used to build complex, longitudinal mental health histories that improve our ability to predict adverse pregnancy and birth outcomes.
Methods: Using population-based, administrative datasets, we examined individual-level mental health services use of all birth parents who delivered a live infant in British Columbia, Canada between April 1, 2000, and December 31, 2013, and who were registered with the provincial Medical Services Plan for over 100 days per year from 10-years preconception to 1-year postpartum.
Background: Sexual health outcomes (SHO), which entail the physical, emotional, mental, and social impacts, are an important consideration for adolescent and young adults (AYA, ages 15-39) affected by cancer. The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to summarize the current literature and evaluate AYA cancer impact on SHO.
Methods: EMBASE and MEDLINE were searched from January 1, 2000 to September 28, 2022 to identify epidemiologic studies that used an analytic observational design, included individuals with AYA cancer and non-cancer control participants, and evaluated SHO.

An interview-informed synthesized contingency analysis (IISCA; Hanley et al. in J Appl Behav Anal 47:16-36, 2014) and related skill-based treatment process can result in socially valid outcomes for clients exhibiting severe challenging behavior when implemented by professionals and then transferred to parents (e.g.

We have developed a 4-criterion framework for assessing interactions that includes statistical, qualitative, biological, and practical approaches. We present the application of this framework in an ovarian cancer setting because this is an important step in developing more accurate risk stratification models.
