Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by memory impairment and cognitive decline, ultimately culminating in dementia. This study aims to evaluate cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR) and functional connectivity (FC) in patients with AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI), bypassing the requirement for hypercapnia. The study cohort comprised 53 AD patients, 38 MCI patients, and 39 normal control (NC) subjects.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) are characterized by abnormal functional connectivity (FC) of default-mode network (DMN), salience network (SN), and central executive network (CEN). Static FC (sFC) and dynamic FC (dFC) combined with triple network model can better study the dynamic and static changes of brain networks, and improve its potential diagnostic value in the diagnosis of AD spectrum disorders.

Methods: Differences in sFC values and dFC variability patterns among the three brain networks of the three groups (53 AD patients, 40 aMCI patients, and 40 NCs) were computed by ANOVA using Gaussian Random Field theory (GRF) correction.

Background: Neuroimaging studies have demonstrated alterations in hippocampal volume and hippocampal subfields among individuals with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). However, research on using hippocampal subfield volume modeling to differentiate aMCI from normal controls (NCs) is limited, and the relationship between hippocampal volume and overall cognitive scores remains unclear.

Nano-zero-valent copper (nZVC) is a superior molecular oxygen (O) activator for the abatement of organic pollutants due to its high electron utilization rate. However, the activation efficiency of O is compromised by the agglomeration tendency of nZVC particles and the concomitant reduction of the available active sites. To address this problem, the biochar (BC) with porous structure and abundant surface functional groups is utilized to disperse and stabilize nZVC for O activation (simplified as the nZVC/BC/O system) for efficient removal of tetracycline (TC).

Graphene has been widely investigated as an additive in lubricating oils to enhance their tribological performance. Here, the effects of the nature and size of the graphene nanosheets on the tribological performance were investigated with the hydrogenated hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene dioctoate (O-HHTPB-O) as a model base oil after alkylation of the graphene oxide (GO) of different sizes with 1-dodecylamine (DA) and reduction. The 1-dodecylamine-modified graphene oxide (DA-GO) showed better dispersibility in the O-HHTPB-O base oil and subsequently better tribological performance than the reduced one (DA-rGO) for both the larger graphene oxide nanosheets (GO) and the smaller graphene oxide nanosheets (GO).

In situ remediation of groundwater by zerovalent iron (ZVI)-based technology faces the problems of rapid passivation, fast agglomeration, limited range of pollutants and secondary contamination. Here a new concept of Magnesium-Aluminum (Mg-Al) alloys and in situ layered double hydroxides on is proposed for the degradation and removal of a wide variety of inorganic and organic pollutants from groundwater. The Mg-Al alloy provides the electrons for the chemical reduction and/or the degradation of pollutants while released Mg, Al and OH ions react to generate in situ LDH precipitates, incorporating other divalent and trivalent metals and oxyanions pollutants and further adsorbing the micropollutants.

Chlorophenols are extremely toxic to the environment and recalcitrant to biological degradation. Herein chemical degradation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) from aqueous solutions by zero-valent aluminum (Al), zero-valent iron (Fe), Al and Fe mixtures (Al/Fe mass ratio 90/10, labeled as Al/Fe10) and Al-Fe alloy (Al/Fe mass ratio 90/10, labeled as Al-Fe10) were investigated. No removal was found for 50 mg·L 4-CP under anoxic conditions at initial pH 2.

The International Standard Organization (ISO) specifies two titrimetric methods for the determination of total iron content in iron ores using potassium dichromate as titrant after reduction of the iron(III) by tin(II) chloride and/or titanium(III) chloride. These two ISO methods (ISO2597-1 and ISO2597-2) require nearly boiling-point temperature for iron(III) reduction and suffer from copper interference and/or mercury pollution. In this study, potassium borohydride was used for reduction of iron(III) catalyzed by copper ions at ambient temperatures.
