Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein family verprolin-homologous domain-containing protein 3 (WAVE3) is reported as an oncogene regulating cell proliferation and motility in multiple malignancies, while its role in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) remains unknown. This study aimed to explore the expression and mechanism of WAVE3 in TSCC. We enrolled 64 TSCC patients admitted between June 2013 and February 2014 and collected their cancerous and adjacent normal tissues to determine WAVE3 expression by immunohistochemistry.

Concept mapping is an effective method in teaching and learning, however this strategy has not been evaluated among electrocardiogram (ECG) diagnosis learning. This study explored the use of concept maps to assist ECG study, and sought to analyze whether this method could improve undergraduate students' ECG interpretation skills. There were 126 undergraduate medical students who were randomly selected and assigned to two groups, group A (n = 63) and group B (n = 63).

Article Synopsis
  • Rheumatic heart disease is a serious complication of rheumatic fever, and there are few effective animal models for studying it.
  • The study developed a chronic rheumatic valvulitis model using Lewis rats, immunizing them with group A streptococci and observing their responses.
  • Results showed that the immunized rats developed significant heart conditions, such as myocarditis and valvulitis, while control rats showed no signs of heart disease, indicating that the immunization protocol may create a useful model for further research on rheumatic heart disease.

Background And Aim: Ventricular stroke work (SW) is one of the best indices to evaluate ventricular function, however, the SW monitoring mainly depends on the invasive method with the artery catheter. In this paper, our aim is to develop a new semi-quantitative non-invasive method for evaluating ventricular SW.

Methods: The multiple gated cardiac blood pool imaging was done in 25 patients with coronary artery disease and 12 normal controls.
