Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) presents the most challenging subtype of the disease due to its aggressive nature and lack of targeted therapy options. To identify regulators of TNBC, we conducted a genome-wide CRISPR-knockout screen in both 3D tumor spheroid and 2D cell culture models. The 3D spheroid model displayed unique potential in identifying putative tumor suppressors due to its closer mimicry of in vivo tumor growth conditions.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has reminded us of human infections with the H7N9 virus and has raised questions related to the clinical and molecular pathophysiological diversity between the two diseases. Here, we performed a proteomic approach on sera samples from patients with H7N9-virus or SARS-CoV-2-virus infection and healthy controls. Compared to SARS-CoV-2, H7N9-virus infection caused elevated neutrophil concentrations, T cell exhaustion, and increased cytokine/interleukin secretion.

Soft tissue sarcoma is a broad family of mesenchymal malignancies exhibiting remarkable histological diversity. We portray the proteomic landscape of 272 soft tissue sarcomas representing 12 major subtypes. Hierarchical classification finds the similarity of proteomic features between angiosarcoma and epithelial sarcoma, and elevated expression of SHC1 in AS and ES is correlated with poor prognosis.

MO (M = Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe, Ce) nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in porous C with uniform diameter and dispersion were synthesized, with potential application as S-absorbents to protect catalysts from S-poisoning in catalytic hydrothermal gasification (cHTG) of biomass. S-absorption performance of MO/C was evaluated by reacting the materials with diethyl disulfide at HTG conditions (450 °C, 30 MPa, 15 min). Their S-absorption capacity followed the order CuO/C > CeO/C ≈ ZnO/C > MnO/C > FeO/C.

Time-frequency ridge not only exhibits the variable process of non-stationary signal with time changing but also provides the information of signal synchronous or non-synchronous components for subsequent detection research. Consequently, the key is to decrease the error between real and estimated ridge in the time-frequency domain for accurate detection. In this article, an adaptive weighted smooth model is presented as a post-processing tool to refine the time-frequency ridge which is based on the coarse estimated time-frequency ridge using newly emerging time-frequency methods.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a common and aggressive subtype of renal cancer. Here we conduct a comprehensive proteogenomic analysis of 232 tumor and adjacent non-tumor tissue pairs from Chinese ccRCC patients. By comparing with tumor adjacent tissues, we find that ccRCC shows extensive metabolic dysregulation and an enhanced immune response.

Despite increased overall survival rates, curative options for metastatic breast cancer remain limited. We have previously shown that metadherin (MTDH) is frequently overexpressed in poor prognosis breast cancer, where it promotes metastasis and therapy resistance through its interaction with staphylococcal nuclease domain-containing 1 (SND1). Through genetic and pharmacological targeting of the MTDH-SND1 interaction, we reveal a key role for this complex in suppressing antitumor T cell responses in breast cancer.

In this paper, a novel wrap-around multi-scattering phononic crystal (PC) structure is proposed. Band gaps (BGs) and transmission characteristics of the present structure are calculated using finite element method (FEM). Through the calculations of single-scattering prototype, three complete BGs which are exhibited at low frequency and the fourth wide BG at high frequency are discovered.
