Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) is an emerging tick-borne phlebovirus that causes viral hemorrhagic fever. Pandemic concerns have arisen due to the increased human-to-human transmission and high mortality rate, highlighting the urgent need for specific therapeutics.

Methods: Our observational study characterized the memory B cell response to natural SFTSV infection in four survivors.

Zoom camera calibration has always been challenging, as arbitrary zoom/focus settings change the camera parameters. Current calibration methods are based on the pinhole imaging model, which results in coupled calibration parameters due to the lack of geometric/physical constraints. In this Letter, we present a novel, to the best of our knowledge, pupil-centric imaging model that accounts for the camera's radial, decentering, and mustache distortions at various zoom settings using exit pupil offsets and a non-frontal lens-sensor model.

Article Synopsis
  • Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) is a new tick-borne virus with a high mortality rate (up to 30%) that causes severe fever and thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS).
  • The study focuses on a monoclonal antibody, mAb 40C10, which can neutralize various SFTSV genotypes; researchers identified a specific binding epitope within the virus's glycoprotein N, enhancing understanding of how the antibody works.
  • The researchers also humanized mAb 40C10 to make it less likely to provoke an immune response in humans, resulting in antibodies that maintained strong efficacy; one exhibited significant therapeutic potential in mouse models, paving the

Background: The purpose of this study is to analyze the influencing factors associated with Long-COVID in patients infected with Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Changchun City, Jilin Province, China three months after discharge in March 2022.

Methods: In this study, we conducted a telephone follow-up based on the real-world data collected from the Affiliated Hospital to Changchun University of Chinese Medicine, Changchun Tongyuan Shelter Hospital and Changchun Infectious Disease Hospital during the COVID-19 epidemic in Changchun in March 2022. We used the Global COVID-19 Clinical Platform Case Report Form for Post COVID condition as a follow-up questionnaire to collect the general information, past medical history, clinical symptoms, COVID-19 vaccine inoculation doses, and other relevant information to analyze the symptom characteristics of COVID-19 patients three months after discharge from the hospital and related factors affecting Long COVID.

The SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant evades most currently approved neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) and caused drastic decrease of plasma neutralizing activity elicited by vaccination or prior infection, urging the need for the development of pan-variant antivirals. Breakthrough infection induces a hybrid immunological response with potentially broad, potent and durable protection against variants, therefore, convalescent plasma from breakthrough infection may provide a broadened repertoire for identifying elite nAbs. We performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and BCR sequencing (scBCR-seq) of B cells from BA.

Polyphenols have received attention as dietary supplements for the relief of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) due to various bioactivities. Ethanol-induced rat small intestinal epithelial cell 6 (IEC-6) and alpha mouse liver 12 (AML-12) cell models were pretreated with four dietary polyphenols with different structures to explore their effects on cytotoxicity and potential protective mechanisms. The results showed that polyphenols had potential functions to inhibit ethanol-induced AML-12 and IEC-6 cell damage and oxidative stress, and restore ethanol-induced IEC-6 permeability and tight junction gene expression.

A review of various calibration techniques of MEMS inertial sensors is presented in this paper. MEMS inertial sensors are subject to various sources of error, so it is essential to correct these errors through calibration techniques to improve the accuracy and reliability of these sensors. In this paper, we first briefly describe the main characteristics of MEMS inertial sensors and then discuss some common error sources and the establishment of error models.

As a natural active ingredient, lactic acid bacteria have potential anti-inflammatory effects. In this study, male C57BL/6J mice were given a high-fat diet (HFD) to establish an obese mouse model. 23-1 (LP23-1) with prebiotic characteristics was intervened for 8 weeks to evaluate its remission effect on obese animals and related mechanisms.

An increasing number of bio-inspired navigation approaches have been designed based on polarization cameras. However, digital cameras can sense a much narrower field of vision than the vision of insects or human beings. In this study, we propose an adaptive skylight polarized orientation method for high dynamic range (HDR) scenes.

Background: Oil bodies (OBs) are a kind of natural and stable oil nucleate microcapsule in which the triglyceride matrix can be used as an appropriate carrier of hydrophobic molecules. Astaxanthin has high antioxidant properties but is extremely sensitive to oxidation, causing the loss of its bioactive properties.

Results: The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of environmental factors (light, oxygen, temperature, and pH) on the physical and oxidative stability of astaxanthin microcapsules prepared with peanut oil bodies (POBs).

Fc engineering has become the focus of antibody drug development. The current mutagenesis and protein design methods are confined by the limited throughput and high cost, while the high-throughput phage display and yeast display technologies are not suitable for screening glycosylated Fc variants. Here we developed a mammalian cell display-based Fc engineering platform.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the major type of pancreatic malignancy with very poor prognosis. Despite the promising results of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in some solid tumors, immunotherapy is less effective for PDAC due to its immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). In this report, we established an immunocompetent syngeneic PDAC model and investigated the effect of oncolytic herpes simplex virus-1 (oHSV) on the composition of TME immune cells.
