Objectives: Mayo Clinic's hospital-at-home program, Advanced Care at Home (ACH), launched in 2020. While hospital-at-home literature reported safe and effective care for the general patient population and those with COVID, comparative outcomes between these two groups were unknown. The aim of this retrospective analysis was to compare the outcomes of COVID and non-COVID patients enrolled in ACH and evaluate if COVID patients can be safely treated in this setting.

Background: To reduce smoking uptake in adolescents, the medical students' network Education Against Tobacco (EAT) has developed a school-based intervention involving a face-aging mobile app (Smokerface).
Methods: A two-arm cluster-randomized controlled trial was conducted, evaluating the 2016 EAT intervention, which employed the mobile app Smokerface and which was delivered by medical students. Schools were randomized to intervention or control group.
Background: Hospital-at-home has become a more recognized way to care for patients requiring inpatient hospitalization. At times, these patients may require escalation of care (transfer from home back to the brick-and-mortar (BAM) hospital for ongoing hospitalization care needs), a process that has not been extensively studied.
Objective: To evaluate what patient factors contribute to escalations of care in the hospital-at-home delivery model.
Maternal nutrition during embryonic development and lactation influences multiple aspects of offspring health. Using mice, this study investigates the effects of maternal caloric restriction (CR) during mid-gestation and lactation on offspring neonatal development and on adult metabolic function when challenged by a high fat diet (HFD). The CR maternal model produced male and female offspring that were significantly smaller, in terms of weight and length, and females had delayed puberty.

This is ascribed to hormonal changes during pregnancy leading to a weakening of the vessel wall and haemodynamic changes especially during childbirth. Management options include conservative medical treatment and percutaneous coronary intervention, depending on clinical presentation.

The distinct hormone-producing cell lineages within the pituitary display remarkable levels of cell plasticity that allow remodeling of the relative proportions of each hormone-producing cell population to meet organismal demands. The molecular mechanisms governing pituitary cell plasticity have not been fully elucidated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAnterior pituitary cell function requires a high level of protein synthesis and secretion which depend heavily on mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate production and functional endoplasmic reticula. Obesity adds stress to tissues, requiring them to adapt to inflammation and oxidative stress, and adding to their allostatic load. We hypothesized that pituitary function is vulnerable to the stress of obesity.

Objectives: A novel SS mobile app is compared to a control app that lacks the interactivity, social engagement, and feature-richness of the SS app.
Use of religious coping in response to life stress is associated with improved mental and physical health outcomes. The aim of this study was to examine the influence of religious coping on conscious self-reported and non-conscious physiological stress responses to an acute, real-world stressor to better understand how this benefit may be conferred. This study examined the trajectory of subjective distress and cortisol patterns leading up to and following a stressful college exam using daily diary and ambulatory saliva samples, respectively ( students = 246).

Background: The prognosis of patients with severe coronary artery stenosis and without inducible ischemia using stress CMR remains uncertain, even though its identification of functionally significant coronary artery disease (CAD) is excellent.
Materials And Methods: Patients without inducible ischemia and known CAD who underwent stress CMR between February 2015 and December 2016 were included in this retrospective study.
Background: Left ventricular (LV) thrombus formation is a common but potentially serious complication, typically occurring after myocardial infarction. Due to perceived high thromboembolic risk and lack of safety data, stress cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging especially with dobutamine is usually avoided despite its high diagnostic yield. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics, safety and outcome of patients with LV thrombus undergoing dobutamine or vasodilator stress CMR.

Study Design: This is a retrospective cohort study of pregnant persons with HIV prescribed antiretroviral therapy (ART) during the period of 01/01/2009 to 12/31/2020.
Main Outcomes Measures: χ2 tests were used to compare the proportion of persons with excessive weight gain, DM, and HDP according to ART regimens.
Background: Cannabis use is prevalent in the United States and is associated with a host of negative consequences. Importantly, a robust indicator of negative consequences is the amount of cannabis consumed.
Methods: Data were obtained from fifty-two adult, regular cannabis flower users (3+ times per week) recruited from the community; participants completed multiple ecological momentary assessment (EMA) surveys each day for 14 days.
Introduction: Advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) is an independent risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD). Due to its unique uremia-derived pathophysiology of atherosclerosis and the limitations of using potentially harmful contrast agents, the best non-invasive approach to assess CAD in these patients remains unclear. We sought to investigate the accuracy, safety, and prognosis of patients with severe CKD undergoing dobutamine stress cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR).

One type of GCE, sense codon reassignment (SCR), focuses on breaking the degeneracy of the 61 sense codons which encode for only 20 amino acids. SCR has great potential for genetic code expansion, but extensive SCR is limited by the post-transcriptional modifications on tRNAs and wobble reading of these tRNAs by the ribosome.

The anterior pituitary cells show a remarkable level of cell type plasticity that mediates the shifts in hormone-producing cell populations that are required to meet organismal needs. The molecular mechanisms underlying pituitary cell plasticity are not well understood.

Our aim was to determine whether breathalyzer-cued warning messages administered via mobile devices in the natural drinking environment could influence real-world AID cognitions and behaviors.
Method: One hundred twenty young adults (53% women; mean age = 24.
Substance use disorders (SUDs) are frequent concerns among healthcare providers serving military personnel and Veterans, and SUDs are also associated with high healthcare utilization. Problematic substance use is consistently associated with deficits in emotion regulation, and changes in emotional regulatory processes may be important factors during treatment and recovery. The present study examined emotion regulation and substance use risk and protective factors among Veterans seeking residential treatment for SUD within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

As affect is thought to be dynamic and responsive to context, this study investigated the multilevel reliability of PANAS-X Positive Affect, Negative Affect, Fear, Sadness, and Hostility scales. Generalizability theory and structural equation modeling techniques (coefficient ω) were employed in four ecological momentary assessment samples ( = 309; 41,261 reports).
