In this study, we incubated Chinese soft-shelled turtle eggs at 28°C (control temperature, C treatment), a temperature with a 16°C cold shock and a 36°C heat shock twice per week (S treatment) or a ramp-programmed temperature of 29 ± 9°C (with 12 hr (+) and 12 hr (-) every day) (F treatment). The incubation period, hatching success, hatchling weight, and locomotor performance were significantly different between the controls and the different heat treatment groups.

To identify the mechanisms which regulate PYROXD2 gene transcription, we constructed a series of luciferase reporter plasmids and used them to perform luciferase‑based reporter assays with HepG2, Sk-hep1, L02 and 293T cells with the purpose of characterizing the PYROXD2 reporter region. Our results revealed that the transcription factor myeloid zinc finger 1 (MZF1) is necessary for PYROXD2 gene transcription and that it functions as a trans-activator.

The results revealed the presence of four specific binding sites for ANS on UTI, with interactions driven mainly by electrostatic forces. The four specific binding sites indicated the involvement of four hydrophobic patches on UTI.

MTT assay showed alpha-bisabolol could effectively induce cytotoxicity in several human cancer cell lines (PC-3, Hela, ECA-109 and HepG2). The results of nuclei morphology examination, DNA fragmentation detection, flow cytometry analysis and cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase and caspases indicated alpha-bisabolol might induce dose- and time-dependent apoptosis in HepG2 cells.

Analysis of the purified enzyme by SDS-PAGE indicated that CSP was a single polypeptide chain with an apparent molecular weight of 31 kDa, and N-terminal sequencing revealed that the first ten amino acid residues of the enzyme were Ala-Leu-Ala-Thr-Gln-His-Gly-Ala-Pro-Trp-. When casein was used as a substrate, the proteolytic activity of CSP reached its maximum at pH 7.
